KM spot on as usual
at 20:11 21 Aug 2025

This take is honestly unbelievable.

It was a brilliant interview and Mckenna is spot on.

In fact, any top class leadership team will tell you the same. It's why top performing teams/organisations spend millions on training based around culture.

Looks like Akpom can potentially play in all our 4 attacking roles
at 16:44 11 Aug 2025

I'm honestly baffled where all this talk of Akpom leading the line as a no.9 has come from?

I can't see that he's been brought here to do that, given he had his best ever season under Carrick playing in a fluid system as a 10?

I think we'll still be in for another true no.9 right up until deadline day.

He's an unbelievable ball striker but is not well rounded enough for us

We're light on depth as it is, no chance he plays a full XI.

Ogbene looked like he needs to shift 3 stone of muscle to be able to move, very strange.

Cajuste for Taylor, Philogene for Ogbene
at 12:21 9 Aug 2025

Cajuste will be brilliant for rhythm and breaking the press, something we are struggling with currently.

Azor has promise but is not up to speed yet and Taylor will never be the answer.

We feel unbalanced atm, but we've seen before how 1 or 2 players can transform a team. I remember being light on numbers a few years ago at home to QPR and it was one of the worst 0-0's you'll ever see.

We'll need to find a way to pick up points this month whilst still rounding off our squad, then staying in the mix whilst build relationships etc. If we can do that, I expect to see us come on strong from there.

Would personally want much better depth than Taylor for a team looking to return to the Premier League

It's not you, I've got the same. I didn't get the promo code for the last friendly despite purchasing the membership in time either, all a bit amateurish!

Are we aiming too high?
at 10:57 9 Jul 2025

This has clearly served us well, but is also so so difficult in English markets where there is so much information readily available. Almost impossible to get a deal done without a bigger club sniffing around the same player.

Slightly frustrating when you see other clubs at the same level tapping into various worldwide markets e.g. Japan, South America, Belgium etc.

We do this every window and will continue to do so until we stop the obsession with English markets and put in place a more advanced recruitment model.

Leeds and Sunderland straight into the European markets
at 15:16 28 Jun 2025

This is really poor if so and could prove a real stumbling block if we genuinely want to close the gap on the Premier League. It's just not feasible to get the profile of player you need in UK markets.

This is a real disappointment as it seems the only piece of the puzzle we are missing. I hope it changes but they way Ashton speaks about it concerns me.

You can't expect to fix 14 years of mess without some pain.

It's impossible by definition within our economic system.

The Expected Goals Premier League Table
at 15:58 28 Oct 2024

Was looking at this recently, doesn't make good viewing.

I do think a change of approach away from home has the potential to change this somewhat, but I'm not sure Mckenna will change his principles now.

It's a tough decision to make for him, keep going with what he and team believes in and hope we can improve enough in time to get enough points, or to change the approach slightly after so long of having a clear identity.

To be fair, when we signed Davis, he'd had a hard time with injuries. The same goes for Broadhead. Look at them now...

You've got to take these risks to get quality in the door. Without their injuries, I doubt they'd be here.

Joe Geldhart - loan…

The problem is, we literally cannot "attack this league" shopping in the same UK market as clubs selling players for 10's of millions or with parachute payments.

I'm hoping we just haven't had time to build an international scouting network yet, otherwise, our approach seems a little naive to me. It would be like Brighton shopping in the same market as Chelsea or City.

Of course I think we'll be competitive with the current squad but depending on the ambition, we may need to be a little smarter with recruitment at some point - see Brighton and Brentford.
