"Don't cry for our Marcellino...."
at 11:20 28 Aug 2025

Marcelinos magic, he wears a Ipswich hat
He used to play for Norwich, but now he says **** that,
He beats them down the left side he beats them down the right,
He passes through the middle
And hates the Norwich sh!te

Nearly but not quite.

Bromley roll call
at 13:17 11 Aug 2025

No tickets left on the Bromley site, there could be more Town fans in the home end than the away end tomorrow.

The home block nearest the away section is also nearly sold out. The rest of the ground is not so full.

Away Points

2000 allocation. Demand is always a bit lower in August..it might even make it to 10 points. I think a big number of people were ground ticking last year, demand will drop a lot.

Weirdly Bromley away will be toughest ticket this year, allocation of about 500 and first Town visit.

An amazing night at PR.

Anyone planning the Manningtree route Saturday, just bear in mind the Tendring Show is at Lawford so round Cox's Hill and Manningtree railway station will be very busy late afternoon, it jams up every year without Ed traffic.

Scouting Network
at 09:42 12 Jul 2025

Things have moved fast at the club, you don't really need a global scouting team in League 1.

It was clearly an area where we weren't ready for the Premier League and that is now being addressed.

Having said that, the first generation of Gamechanger scouts have not been a success. Most of the players who will go down as legends, Burns, Chaplin, Burgess, Morsy, Broadhead, they were all recruited before the current team were in place. The old team did everything up to summer 2022 when the Gamechanger revolution reached that area.

As others have said there really were some good people behind the scenes pre-Ashton & co. The revolution had to happen but some good'uns were flushed out too. Ashton is very much a (benign) dictator and if your face doesn't fit you have no future in the club. Not sure his track record in people appointments is great, apart from Kieron of course!

They are rebuilding one side at the moment.. 500 away allocation until it is done. A lot to do if to be open in a couple of months.

Watching wolves vs palace

We were in a mini-league of 3 from the start, but we only know that now (well few months ago).

It's not going to to get easier. No idea how we bridge the gap over next season, even if we go back up what would we expect back in the prem? Hopefully a bit better at home but how we come back 15-20 points better...no idea.

Got to get academy working but that is a long game and better recruitment especially in europe. So tough as don't see anyone in the top 17 really failing.

Anyone ever been to Schalke/Gelsenkirchen?
at 08:43 13 May 2025

I would plan to be elsewhere for most of your trip, as all are saying Gelsenkirchen has nothing to offer. Really nothing interesting about the place, not sure why the Euros had it as a venue last year.
Plenty of public transport; l would stay elsewhere. Cologne is a great city.

Good aways next season?

Watford and Portsmouth are ones I would look forward to, proper football clubs and decent days out.

Stoke City..yuk. Proper club but can't think of anything nice to say about the city or the ground.

Worst 'Big 6' Away Fans at Portman Road
at 09:50 21 Apr 2025

Yes, think Liverpool being 1st match has caused some memory loss. Liverpool really were rubbish, a bit shocking to old timers who remember when every scouser sang for 90 minutes.
I would say the more a club has been lost to the corporate monster that is the Premier League the more that clubs fans have lost their identity. So clubs like Forest and Everton were better than City etc.
What I didn't understand yesterday is why Arsenal were so in our faces, are they still salty after 1978 .

Could there be a one year exemption from relegation from the Premier League?
at 09:39 21 Apr 2025

Everyone knows the truth so most of the media just ignore the bottom 3 because there is nothing to say. It is now clear we have been playing in a mini-league of 3 all season..perhaps we'll win the mini-league!
Most Championship football is bang average with most teams set up to be solid and reliable but nothing entertaining at all.
Are any of the teams heading up going to be 15 to 20 points better than us? As others have said promoted teams have got to reach that level as the 17 already there really shouldn't drop in standard much with all that money. It's like the 3 promoted teams are just guests visiting.
Premier League 2 is the only possible answer with better funding and therefore higher standard across the whole 2nd tier. Just pushes the problem down one level though and would the 'Big 17' want to share the money wider?

Home style vs Away style
at 09:38 20 Apr 2025

We tried it against Brighton as it had worked well over Christmas, a few people on here called it MickMac football (it wasn't) but it didn't really work letting the opposition have the procession at home.

We just need a defence that can stay tight at home without as much help from the midfield. Someone like Johnson is great away from home where he provides defensive support but brings nothing at home going forward more. So you bring in Omari or one of the other multiple lightweight skillful players and they are a liability getting bounced out of the game and allowing a free run on our exposed defense.

We just haven't solved the home problem this year but I don't think setting up like an away game is the answer..not sure why it doesn't work but it doesn't seem too.

92/92 today… Bromley v Morecambe

Will you do a match at Everton next season or wait and hope we are there in 26/7?

At least Barnet is a short one. Gateshead would be a bit more of a treck!

Is it quite comforting that realistically we had no chance this season?
at 16:03 14 Apr 2025

I think the big surprise for me is the overall standard of the whole league. I suppose in a way the money has levelled things out for the established teams. I thought teams like Everton were superb at Portman Road and that is the benchmark for survival as they have struggled last few years.
Next year won't be any easer for the teams going up, so they have to do 15 points better than us, proper tough.
They'll always be 'what ifs' over a season but worthless really.

Grounds with small away allocations next season:
at 18:55 10 Apr 2025

It's a real mixed bag, I would think there will be 10-12 matches which are relatively easy to get, Millwall are another that can't afford to turn down more cash and will give a huge allocation. Swansea, Cardiff both should be down to low points before selling out, all the long Lancashire trips and even Leicester and Southampton will start to lose interest for many who have been last couple of years.

Won't be any excuse not to have 20 points for the following season if you want them.

If you had the choice...?
at 08:42 9 Apr 2025

There is loads I hate about the Premier League, mainly the fact us fans who turn up every week are so far down the priorities. However I totally agree this Championship is the most fun league is odd, every week on here we have people commenting on Championship football and saying the football is bang average.
Was last season better than this season, yes of course; coming 2nd in League 1 was better than this season! But would I rather have our 24/25 season or Norwich's in mid-table Championship, easy ours and not just because they're them.
There is only one place to be despite its big faults.

Exactly, so when we don't take 6000 to Preston next season you will be back claiming you've been proved right and low pointers wont travel beyond London, but you'll be wrong...evidence...today.
