London marathon this weekend, a few questions.....
at 17:23 17 Apr 2024

I was about 23rd in 2017 with a 2:17. I reckon you'll be fine rocking up with no entry, and 2km of training in your legs.

Poborsky signed in ‘96 about 4 years after Giggs was a regular. Lee Sharpe or Danny Wallace maybe, but it never happened with Poborsky and Kanchelskis.

Plymouth have dropped 9 points in the last 7 games, so I’m not sure why you can’t see them dropping more. I agree it will probably be too much of a stretch, but if one of the chasing teams can win 11/14 remaining, then I can see them surpassing Plymouth.

Ok it's really been bugging me

Been saying the same for weeks now. Three times in the second half today we managed to get in behind. There was almost no pressure on the player making the cross, so he had time to pick a player in blue with a cut back, but they fired aimlessly at the six yard box. You only have to look at the goals we concede to see a half decent cross causes problems. However, at least Clarke knows that he’s allowed to throw the ball forwards, JD is a nightmare on throw ins!

After barely seeing a town shirt in Lincolnshire for the 15 years I’ve been here, saw one in Bourne yesterday morning and one in Stamford after the game!

Burtons throw inside
at 15:46 18 Aug 2022

Difference is we (Donacien in particular) always throw the ball back to Woolf and Edmundson to recycle possession, even if our throw in is level with the opponents penalty area. So wouldn’t really benefit us to steal any yards!

How was today all

If you compare it to Cheltenham, which was at a similar stage of the season, then we are streets ahead of 12 months ago. Yes, we conceded, but crucially we kept the ball much better than we did when under pressure last year. After their 5-10 min spell after scoring, we didn’t allow them any chances I can remember. Only slight issue is we did have the opportunity to kill the game off, but don’t appear to be the most clinical of teams just yet.

Burgess done on the turn again
at 18:58 6 Aug 2022

He did ok, and as you said he did win a lot of headers to relieve pressure late on. His flaw is trying to attack the ball and getting spun. Happened twice, once at the end where he pulled the lad down and got booked, and then also just before we scored. He went chasing the ball, which allowed Matt to spin in behind and it would have been 1-0 against better opposition. His Hollywood balls need cutting out too, they’re not the worst in the world, but he would be much better rolling it into Morsy instead of playing a 60yrd diagonal for Burns. It’s not a criticism as such, he’s just not a ball playing centre back which McKenna wants to deploy.

The web platform the site uses has been painfully bad for a number of years, and why they haven't upgraded their hosting package to deal with a rush of traffic is beyond me.

What did Penney, Carroll, Toto and Fraser do to justify a 2? Not sure they can even be given a score, abysmal.

Covid tests
at 19:48 19 Oct 2020

I would have thought they would use a private supplier for the tests, much like in the rest of elite sport. I had three earlier this month, with the results all back (negative) within 24 hours - one was also on a Friday afternoon.

Athens Marathon: Update

Jaffa should help you out. If anything it will be motivation to get the run done, which is half the battle.

Race wise, use their fixture list - https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=vrn8e6ccv8s3bup3nj4igo5sho@group.

Felixstowe 10mi, Martlesham 10k / Peterborough Half are all flat and quick. Spring wise there are loads of races like Cambridge Half, which should suit.

Good luck, heard it's pretty much uphill until 30k, but the last 12k is the easy bit anyway ;)
