manager vacancy
at 12:06 16 May 2018

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand the bloke, and I remember the Bolton playoff, but he is a good manager (imho). But I agree he's not right for Ipswich (not that I think he'd take the job even if offered it).

Can you explain this please? Who's calling Mick a kiddy fiddler?

I bet if you ask them they'll say 'it was a tiny minority' who wanted him out. Standard whitewashing tactics.

You're right. I hope he gets the Arsenal job.

Ah that feels much better.

Did I say I didn't want him to get another job?

No I said I don't think he will walk into a 'big' job.

Why so judgemental when you can't even read properly?

Not wishing ill of him. Just don't think he's as good a manager as he thinks he is.

Lets just pretend the last 5 years didn't happen shall we? Erase it from history.

'and that'? Producing dire, turgid football and being generally arrogant and belligerant.

Because he's not as good a manager as he thinks he is.

It's funny how fans hounding out a manager seems to get whitewashed from history when it doesn't suit them. See also Charlton and (hopefully) Arsenal.

Is that MM won't walk into a 'big' job. He might realise he's not as in demand as he thought he was.

I doubt it will show Newcastle in a bad light adly, as they are probably one of the biggest target markets for the film (although I can't for the life of me see why they revere him so much as he never played for them and his management of them was probably the lowest point of his career, and as you say, he was sacked).

This is great news if true. Two of the most overrated players ever.

Has anyone seen St Mirren play?

That's what I mean Vic, the two don't seem to tally up. But as I say I have not seen any of St Mirren's football (apart from the clip I posted) so could just be a one off, but it did seem very direct, even long ball from what I saw.

Anyway - that's enough - I really want him to be great if he comes here. We need it!

What am I trying to achieve? Nothing other than to show an example of the football under Jack Ross. I have seen the videos of him talking on Youtube and was very impressed with the way he spoke about the game. Then I saw extended highlights of a game (admittedly one game) and was not that impressed.

It shows how people can get wrapped up in wanting something without actually knowing what excatly it is that they are going to get. Nothing more, nothing less.

Again I agree. But I wonder if what the supporters of St Mirren perceive as fluid Football is in comparison to what the rest of the teams in their division. They might think John Beck was like Guardiola. (That’s not meant literally - just to point out).

Apologies. I used the term 'total football' as an extreme example to make a point - it wasn't meant to be taken literally. But the general consensus is that we would not accept a direct style of play (e.g. the Cowleys). However it appears that Jack Ross's St Mirren, on the little evidence I have seen, play fairly direct football.

Sorry if that offends anyone.

Agreed but just wondered what his team played like. I know ME specifically mentioned having a 'philosophy' and playing out from the back. I didn't see much playing out from the back in the clip. Just saying - I think others could still be in with a shout. Stam for example.

I don't want to put the dampers on the excitement over Jack Ross potentially gertting the job, but how many have actually seen his side play?

He talks intelligently about the game on camera so I'd thought I'd check out his side on Youtube. This is what I found. It's hardly total football...
