Huge position of strength on Omari ...
at 17:08 16 Jul 2025

Maybe my response was based on what I read this on other threads, but it’s certainly a narrative that exists amongst some town fans.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, I think it offers us more protection and gives us, like you say, more control over the negotiations. Player power does exist, though. Do we want to keep a player who is not happy to be here for the sake of £5m? I think that will impact our negotiations. I do hope we can get a good deal for the club, but I will be gutted to see him go! I do think it would be akin to having Gio all those years ago, if we were to keep him.

Huge position of strength on Omari ...

Absolutely, it’s naive to think we have more to offer than Brentford. Yes, they may appear to be on a downward spiral but nobody knows this and with the right recruitment, who knows what they are capable of.

The only thing we offer is almost guaranteed 80+ mins every week, but otherwise we cannot offer the money they will, the quality of opposition, and testing himself at the highest level. A decent season in the Premier League, from a players point of view, probably looks better to bigger clubs than an excellent season in the Championship considering the jump in quality. That’s where his mindset will be, as he appears a very driven and talented young man.

As we know, the best players in the championship does not always equate to premier league ready.

I understand yours and others points… iI do wonder if we really would have got £50m for Delap, while his high ceiling is as clear as day, is he ready to start every week for a top team (only top clubs can spend that money). I guess we will know the answer by Christmas. Aside from Chels, £50m seems a lot for potential. Of the clubs who have spent £50m, most players were approaching their prime or had at least two seasons at the top level, with some exactions.

I think £40 would have absolutely been achievable, so have a better understanding of the difference in frustration between the two players now, cheers.

Out of curiosity, why does it seem that people are more content with Hutchinson leaving for 35 when there was, what looked to be a high number of people, outrage that we sold Delap for 30? With fees paid, it’s very similar in terms of profit.

Maybe people think Delap’s ceiling is higher but I would rather lose Delap than Hutchinson if I had a choice..

In and amongst these multi-million centre mid signings…

But hang on, his legs have gone, haven’t they? He can’t do any of those things in the video..?

(Yes, most players can look good in highlight clips, but it clearly shows how much he has to offer still). FWIW I think he still starts most games next season.

How do you rate the new home kit out of 5?
at 15:13 8 Jul 2025

As far as I understand it, in the PL you can only have stars for winning the top league and winning the top level European cup. I’m not sure on timeframes but assume our 61/62 would count as a star but the other two would have to go, so club made the decision to keep them on the back, rather than chopping and changing depending on league.

Out of curiosity, are many of those signings the quality we will be aiming for? I don’t pay attention to much outside of ITFC.

I would imagine it is easy to sign players whose ceilings will be mid-Championship. But we are aiming higher than that, top championship players or players that may be able to grow into PL players are much less in quantity and much more complex in dealing with.

It could make a big difference when making comparisons with the rest of the division.

While I agree in regard to recruitment and analysis, it’s also very difficult to recruit that level of athleticism because they cost and we would have to convince a player as a newly promoted team that we can compete. Theres also the complication of looking abroad and then taking time to adapt which you cannot afford as a newly promoted team. Buying the best of championship didn’t work either, though!

I’m glad I’m not making the decisions, it’s ruthless.

2005 orange and black away kit had hooped socks, I’m pretty sure.

How did they do this outside of a transfer window??
at 21:50 24 May 2025

You can agree to sign anyone, at anyone time. You just cannot register them as a player until the transfer window opens (unless a free agent, that was released before the most recent window transfer window closes).

Yup agree with this. What really frustrated me was how both our centre backs seemingly needed to touch the ball to switch play. Some many times Davis and Philogene were wide open, but by the time it went through Greaves, O’Shea and sometimes Tuanzebe, Utd had managed to close the space with ease. Johnson hit one lovely switch but that was in the whole half. Like you said, no intensity to actually do anything. Felt more like waiting for something to happen rather than force it upon Utd.

As said, so many times, you can’t have Leif’s effectiveness in attack without leaving gaps in defence. He’s not got a teleport. His defending, especially 1v1, has come on leaps and bounds this season, but he’s often caught up field.

Not sure we can afford to carry Omari

His pressing is phenomenal for a forward player, exactly what we need. Let alone his quality in the final third

Surely we're not thinking of loaning out Broady?

Absolutely, we need people who are not afraid to take risks, like Delap. A bit of coaching on decision making could turn that into 6 shots and two goals!

I agree with you about Chaplin, he’s played well most of the games he’s played in my option but he’s a victim of the slight tweak to the formation where we are really playing with 2 10s rather than 3 and he’s only really suited to the centre 10, rather than left or right which is what we are playing with now. Thats how I see it, anyway!

Brighton fans I know are disappointed he’s gone out on loan but some have said he needs to be less selfish and he’ll be a hell of a player. If anyone can get him going, it’s McKenna!

It’s interesting if it’s a move to force Boro’s hand. Fridge will know how cut throat the professional game is and we must look out for our financial interests, however, I cannot help but feel for him. He was playing well and regularly and if it doesn’t work, will be sitting in the stands for half a season. That cannot be good for his mental well being. Just makes it feel a tad uncomfortable, when players are treated as assets rather than humans.

I’m aware this is full of assumptions, and none of it may be true.

What is the deal with penalty run ups these days?
at 16:44 6 Jan 2025

Not sure if it’s changed but it certainly used to be that they cannot stop as they are about to kick it (I.e. non-kicking foot being planted next to the ball). They could stop as part of the run up, but not the end of it..

Wes Burns...
at 10:54 5 Nov 2024

Clearing the Instagram grid is the new social media fashion. Celebs often do not do it because it’s part of their brand, hence it’s noticeable when our players do it. However, a lot of people clear old posts. Nothing to see, and a shame that a player of Wes’ importance to us is being put under a microscope.

I’m what you may call a lurker, but for some reason, I felt I had to comment on this.

What’s wrong with Wes?
at 17:24 18 Sep 2022

I love Wes and towards the end of the season he was unplayable but there were many games early on in the season where he contributed very little. He’s a huge asset and should be the first name on the team sheet because of what he can bring but he will have quiet games. On his day, there cannot be a better winger/wingback in this league. His pace (along with the ability to control the ball) is something we have craved for years.

That is madness... The Holland one could be forgiven but the Wright one is just ludicrous! Would love to know how that got through!?
