This is digusting - west ham tickets
at 15:08 24 Jul 2024

It’s not just pure economics though or at least it shouldn’t be. I’m sure that we could sell out PR next season with much higher ticket prices than we have introduced but the Club retains some concern for the average fan thankfully

Clive Allen on McKenna
at 12:55 12 Jul 2024

Taken from a new Coaches Voice piece:

“Forced to retire aged just 22, the then Tottenham coach Clive Allen described him as: “A player and person that you know, every single day, whether training or playing, was 100 per cent committed about everything he did.” With prescience, Allen went on to say: “[He is] a determined and committed character, who is also intelligent and articulate – don’t be surprised if Kieran rises to the top of the game as a coach.””

Hadn’t seen this quite before. Prescient indeed.

I think it depends on your personal circumstances. I’ve got a mate who manages to get to a lot of away games starting with few points but he doesn’t have kids and works for himself so was often able to pick up a late return and go last minute and on his

At Forest they use a similar points system to Town but stick around 10% of their allocation in a ballot for season ticket holders who don’t have the points which seems like a good idea

Philogene update
at 10:02 11 Jul 2024

My guess is this is exactly what has happened. If so, Ipswich will now have to up there offer for JP and renegotiate the Greaves price with Hull which might mean us and them splitting the difference on Hull’s net loss in weighting the deal more fairly. Presumably an increased offer will lead to a further 3 day window for villa to activate matching rights so Hull have told JP to go to Turkey while it all gets sorted. JP could just accept Ipswich’s offer of course but no doubt JP’s agent would have used the opportunity to get some sort of signing on bonus with Villa which he says Ipswich will have to match if they want him under the deal as currently weighted which is why JP is keeping his powder dry. All wild speculation of course but one things for sure - it’s all a bit of a mess

I just hope that the Philogene saga dragging on doesn’t cause the Greaves deal to fall apart. If Everton sell Branthwaite to Utd they could quite easily scupper the double deal I would have thought by then outbidding us for JP and JC

Apparently JP now out in Riva, Turkey with the Hull squad. No idea what this means in the context of the transfer saga

Seems to me that Villa had nothing to lose by invoking their matching rights and potentially something (however small) to gain so why not do it? Villa are well stocked in left sided attacking options though and I can’t see that they could guarantee JP a starting role so would be surprised if he chooses them over us unless they kill us in wages.

I disagree. If you're not sure what you're doing, it's a gamble. If you know what you're doing, then it isn't a gamble, it's a calculated risk.

I trust McKenna to know the quality and potential of these players and his ability to improve them. I don’t feel like he is gambling, just taking very calculated risks that I expect, barring serious injury, will pay off big time

We use Rooster Money (NatWest) for our kids (12 and 14) and it works very well. Helps that our main account is with NatWest

My first ipswich game was the 1:1 draw against Liverpool at Portman Road in December 1980. Ian Rush’s debut. I was 7 and still remember it vividly.

What an ungrateful entitled lot we seem to have as fans.
at 09:05 25 May 2024

I think that it’s a small minority of fans in reality but unfortunately they have the platform and are disproportionately heard. It’s the same with any organisation or group unfortunately and it is best just not to given credence or more attention imho. I’m certain 9/10 town fans feel the same - will be gutted if he goes but eternally grateful for the short but supercharged time he has given us. Fwiw, I think he will end up at Utd and who could begrudge him that. If he does go, we will need to put our collective energy into trying to turn the negative into positive which will undoubtedly be hard but not Impossible. There are other fantastic young mangers out there and thankfully we have the structure and team in place to give us the best chance of finding them.

BBC saying McKenna and Pert want to move on
at 17:47 22 May 2024

What a crap saga and one that I naively didn’t foresee! The elation of a couple of weeks ago has been relegated to the dim and distant past already and I’m left wondering whether the journey to the promised land has been worthwhile if this is a sign of things to come. Clearly KM is angling for a move away and whether it happens or not this is disappointing. I genuinely thought that he would be excited about the prospect of leading us into the premiership but obviously that’s not the case, his ambitions are clearly higher than that and his loyalty thin (as shown by Phil’s revelation that he was close to leaving for Palace in February). All of this smoke hasn’t come from nowhere and, as much as I would like him to stay, if he isn’t committed we need to thank him and move on quickly to someone who does want to be here to give them as much time to bring in their team and players and ideas. The longer this drags on the more brutal next season will be
