Just nicked the ball in a good area to get going and we should have made more of it. |

Tidy. Keeping it simple, just breaking up play here and there |

I would have thought a club aiming to win the Championship could do better than a lower league punt tbh? Hands up, i've not seen enough of his game outside of goal clips here and there. Perhaps we are finding it really difficult to attract those higher up the chain when at best they are coming in as a support striker/sharing duties rather than being the main man. |

I think he's a superb player, would have complemented our midfield and gutted he won't be joining ( although I always feared that was the case) One of the best talents outside the PL. We move on. No need to sound like a jilted lover over it. I am surprised it dragged on this long and we showed interest for this long if we had no indication from his end he would be willing to join. It may be that we've been convieniently used by his agent to push for a PL move. |

Exactly, which made me question how knowledgable or itk this guy actually is, even if he is a legit journo. |

Not sure i'd get too over excited - this guy seems to rehash a lot of old news as well. This from 2 hours ago. |

No idea how true this report is, but also helps a little that he has played at Reims with Matusiwa. Not sure how many starts they made together but a quick look suggests they have played at least a few games as starters. |

A good option alongside/instead of HH Added bonus he played a season with Jacob Greaves & Jaden Philogene already. |

We could have had all our transfer dealings wrapped up already if we had settled for middling champ players. |

Bizarrely it was Bobby Fergusons side midway through the 85-86 season It appears we played 4 games.... 2 each against Bahrain & Iraq 13th/14th Feb 1986 v Bahrain, winning 2-1 and 1-0 2/4th March 1986 v Iraq, winning 1-0 and drawing 0-0 I can't remember why there was such a massive break in the fixtures to allow this? Strike? Bad weather? |

We also might need to be creative with the contracts like Delap to attract the top end players. Top players don't want to get stuck in the Champ on long contracts. I know someone on here said we got 'burned' by Delap - (I don't agree, we got him rather than Soton and still made a profit) but I won't be surprised if we have some kind of clause allowing him to leave for not much more than we pay if we don't get promoted. |

Agreed, you worded that better than me! We essentially meant the same thing. Unless he can get a prem move, (and i'm surprised noone is firming up anything other than 'interest') then we are in prime position. |
 | Forum Reply | Hackney considering waiting for a Tottenham move at 12:52 31 Jul 2025
We are the last option if he can't get a Prem move. There is no denying that. He wouldn't be rejecting us, but rejecting a move to another Champ club. Albeit one with better prospects than his current club. |

All speculation and no legit source. But i'd be amazed if there is no Prem interest tbh now we've put our cards on the table. This would be our most impressive transfer for years imo if we pull this off. Not allowing myself to get over-excited by this until it looks in the bag. |

Against the consenus but yes please. Got better as the season went on and if we'd had him the whole season under McKenna like Hutch then he may have improved further. The 35 mins away at Coventry was one of my favourite sub appearances - he was everywhere and defensively superb for such a tricksy player. |

Was impressed with his defensive/ball winning - absolutely has improved there. One lovely centre of the field jinking run (I remember him doing the same at Everton) but he's just not as effective on the right and I fear we won't get the best out of him there. |
