Don't get me wrong, I love the sentiment behind bringing back JS but I don't think he's the solution. I'll love and adore him for that moment against Southampton, but he's much more a random element than the structured, cultured footballer that fits into KM's plan.
If McKenna wants Clarke or another for that role over Sarmiento, I'm inclined to put my whole faith in that call.
Disclaimer - early last season I chatted with the bloke behind us at Reading in the cup and told him that Hutch was a one trick show pony with no end product...safe to say I've been wrong before... |

I really hope that he's got the deal he wants, that it gives him the financial security that he won't have had up to now.
He more than played his part in our promotion and deserves all he gets.
I couldn't wish more for him - one of life's genuine good guys. |

Unless the boy is poached by the Town academy and promoted to the first team (which, given our approach to signing a GK this season isn't impossible, I guess), this isn't likely to be a problem. |

We're not local either, and my son has his own academy commitments elsewhere in the pyramid, so we can only get to PR when we can.
We were part of the few that made the trip to see us struggle past Reading last season as it was one of the few games we could get to.
Conscious it's all a bit "woe is me", but it's frustrating nonetheless. |

If you watch our games again, you'll realise that Kane needed players to bomb on past him.
Rashford, Grealish, Mane, Musiala etc, all love breaking the line from width or depth and play well with Kane.
Saka, Foden and Bellingham all want to cut in or operate in the space central and outside the box...right where Kane drops deep. It congested the space and teams got worse to it.
Our management didn't. Genuinely think if we'd gone with Watkins or Toney leading the line, we'd have had more joy.
Or a different attacking three in behind.
100% McKenna would've spotted that and set us up to provide different options with his starters & finishers approach... |

Really hope we focus on the positives from his reign. Two finals, a semi- final and generally improving the culture around the England side.
Players didn't shrink in the shirt, but grew into it.
Yes, you can say what you like about tactics (and I have), but unlike days gone by, a lack of effort or application didn't hold back this squad, and that's not always been the case.
I know I'll be downvoted for this, but I do hope it's "Arise, Sir Gareth" in short order. |
