Radio mention
at 08:42 29 Sep 2023

Anyone else hear the honourable mention for ITFC on the Chris Evans show this morning?

Vassos Alexander (co-presenter on the show, and a Fulham fan) mentioned that Mark Ashton texted him, after the cup draw was made, to invite him to the game as a guest. Evans commented that ITFC are "going great guns at the moment", and, "although Ipswich is not just round the corner, it's lovely when you get there".

Whatever you think of Chris Evans, it's nice to hear the Towen getting some national exposure.

As unlikely as it may be, Evans must at least try to tempt him to ITFC.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Just make this backwards passing stop. And this tedious, painful, snail-paced build-up play.

Campaign for a fairer voting system
at 10:45 14 Dec 2019

Leaving the actual policies and party politics aside.....

With neither of the main parties supporting electoral reform (vested interests and all that), it's unlikely to make much of a difference, but if you are dissatisfied with the current electoral system you can at least make your voice heard:

https://action.electoral-reform.org.uk/page/3782/petition/1

The latest GE has just yielded a thumping majority to a party that received less than 50% of the vote. Furthermore, 45.3% of voters are unrepresented (didn't vote for their MP).

https://ge2019.electoral-reform.org.uk/

That's more than 21.5 million votes discarded (wasted). Can we honestly call that proper democracy?

McGoldrick's Interview

"We were mid-table and there were no big expectations to win every game, like there is at Sheffield United at the moment."

That really does say it all, doesn't it? We were a club locked in stasis.

Jon Walters

I can't help but wonder whether Jon Walters had some input into the change of manager.

We know that ME personally contacted him to bring him to Portman Road for his loan spell, which indicates that they are at least reasonably friendly.

Walters will have been able to give the inside track into goings on under PH's tenure. Although he left Stoke before Lambert's arrival, he will still know plenty of people there and will have a good idea of how Lambert was perceived by the footballing staff at Stoke.

Burley's debutants
at 23:15 4 May 2018

Just read the EADT interview with George Burley:

“At Ipswich it was Richard Wright, Kieron Dyer, James Scowcroft, Titus Bramble, Darren Ambrose, Richard Naylor... At Southampton it was Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Adam Lallana, David McGoldrick, Bartosz Bialkowski... At Crystal Palace I gave Wilfried Zaha his debut."

That's one stonking list of youngsters that he's inducted into the first teams of the clubs that he's managed.
