 | Forum Reply | Most confident going into a new season? at 20:51 30 Apr 2025
I’m confident. In all our many seasons as a championship club, we did not have the advantages we do now. Joe Royle did a great job, whilst all around him was falling apart due to administration and selling our best players. Marcus Evan’s took over the club, but had no clue about running it. Eventually he became disillusioned or disinterested and stopped investing. Big Mick McCarthy against all the odds, got us in the playoffs in a great season. Remember Murph’s 27 goals. But when he needed it Marcus failed to invest. Now we have fantastic owners, great infrastructure, parachute money, and hopefully McKenna. It was never better for us in the Championship. |

Purely on finances alone, I expect Southampton & Leicester to be our main promotion rivals. I'm hoping Sheff Utd go up through the playoffs, as they will still have parachute money. Can't see Wrexham being any better than mid table. Brum may make a push for play off places. Bristol City well financed and well managed by ex ITFC Liam Manning. |

As an old git, I just can't reconcile that Bournemouth, Brentford & Fulham are more attractive an opportunity than Ipswich. They may temporarily have better players, but ITFC are a bigger club. With the right structure and management we will eventually overtake them. |

I always remember Cruyff as coach at Barcelona. Played Lineker on the wing for a while. Utter rubbish there. Probably the best in his era in the 6 yard box but didn’t contribute too much else other than goals, goals, goals as a No. 9 |

I thought it was “how do you make a small fortune? Answer “Start with a large fortune and buy a football club “ |

Ah yes, that was a desperate time. I think Paul Jewell had just been sacked and we were managerless if memory serves me correctly. Probably one of the lowest moments in my time watching ITFC. [Post edited 21 Apr 12:20]

I thought Ashley Williams on MOTD was correct to point out Ipswich's weakness down our left. Leif Davis has been great in our promotion season with his wing play and assists, but always a bit suspect with his defensive game. With Jack Clarke on the left too, it was obvious we'd be exploited by Arsenal with the brilliant in form Sako. Contrast that with our right side, we have the excellent Tuanzebe and also Ben Johnson, both experienced defenders. [Post edited 21 Apr 12:05]

Ah great stuff. Looking forward to some excitement next season and quite a few home wins, no VAR…. |
 | Forum Reply | I wonder how KM feels right now at 17:18 6 Apr 2025
Although he'd never admit it in public, I suspect he wished he took the Brighton job. He'd likely now be a top 10 Premier League manager |

Hutch and Davis must be injured. |

What a terrible waste of talent. One day when he grows up, he'll regret wasting what could have been an excellent career |
 | Forum Reply | Phillips at 21:42 9 Mar 2025
I thought he did OK, but that’s the thing. He’s reputed to be on £150k a week, and a top notch England international. He should be bossing games, head and shoulders above anyone else, but he’s just not. For me he’s been a big disappointment. I hope he stays fit for our last 10 games and finally repays some of our investment. |

Might have to give Muric away as unlikely to recoup our original investment. I’d add Harry Clarke, Cam Humphries, and Ali Al Hamedi to the squad next season as all good Championship quality. Be sad to inevitably lose Davis, Hutch & Delap, but hopefully at great profit. |

It is difficult, but I could hardly understand Paul Lambert either |

Just imagine we go down with Man City. The Championship next season would realistically mean only one more automatic promotion, assuming Man City would walk it. |
 | Forum Reply | Phillips outstanding yesterday at 15:23 9 Feb 2025
He did OK. Nothing special. However with his reputation as a top England midfielder and his massive wage, he should be outstanding, a class above, and he so clearly isn’t. One of the big disappointments of the season. |

To quote Kieran McKenna in October 2022 following our 3-2 victory over Portsmouth who had Dane Scarlett in their side "one of the best young strikers in world football, in my opinion, in Dane Scarlett" |

Just in case you were in any doubt that football finances are completely outrageous. According to reports, his new "basic" £26 million per year salary will be supplemented by bonuses too. He'll no doubt be back, asking for a pay rise a couple of years into his 9 and a half year contract. |
