And the greatest centre half of them all, the Beat, was only 5'10 or 5'11.

Telegraph going for Pompey to win the league
at 15:18 1 Aug 2019

Sunderland's Roker Report has us finishing top.
Their reporter says: "The Portman Road club already have a side more than capable of winning the league without the two excellent editions of Holy and Norwood and I fully expect them to walk the league this year, if I’m completely honest."

I hope he's right!

Sunderland and Portsmouth

Anything other than 1st or 2nd will be a failure for us. We have the best midfield by a country mile with Huws and Judge, together with youngsters like Dozzell and Downes Skuse is class too in a defensive role. Norwood is a marquee signing and could be the top forward in the division. In defense Chambers whilst average in the Championship will be better than most in League one. Nsiala, Woolfenden both good enough for this division and our goalies, especially Bart, the best in this league.

Must admit to nostalgia for the Saturday evening routine of waiting at the paper shop for the Green Un . As a old git everything is too instant these days!

Fixture list in iCal format
at 09:37 11 Jul 2019

Does anyone have the fixture list in iCal format so I can import into my Google calendar? Not too keen on using the "ecal" sync on the ITFC website as you have to give it full unfettered access to your calendar, and all sorts of google warnings about this. I'd rather just download and import the iCal format, and if any fixtures change dates and times during the season I can edit them manually in my calendar.

Which single '81 UEFA Cup winner would you pick to put in this seasons team?
at 17:00 10 Jul 2019

That's true! But I'd worry that the rough and tumble of League One would not suit Arnie's game.

Mariner. Strong, good with both feet, great in the air. Goals per game ratio excellent. Natural leader, and towards the end of his career proved to be a good centre half too.

Do not retire the No. 6 shirt for The Beat
at 19:25 7 Jul 2019

I would retire 1 to 11 inclusive in respect to our greatest side in 1981. Only bring these numbers out of retirement if or when we make it back to the Premier League.

Managers like to have 2 players for each position. On the basis that Lambert only ever plays 1 man up front, we are covered aren't we?

Likewise. Always enjoyed away trips to the Valley. Good chip shop near the ground.

Might make it more difficult to sign Norwood now that he's already a League One player next season

Anyone not want Villa to win the final? (n/t)

Not too bothered, although never understood how "Frank Lampard's Derby" (formerly known as Derby County) manage to spend so much and not fall foul of the FFP rules

I wonder if Colin will retire...

What a great manager and coach. If only Evans had appointed him imagine how much better off our club would be now. He deserves a great retirement if he calls it a day now.

Sunderland fans still undecided on Ross...
at 12:34 4 Apr 2019

From a purely selfish point of view, I hope Sunderland do get promoted. Having had a full season with them, Ross will have them sorted and playing exactly how he wants by next season. Whatever their budget, it must be bigger than anyone else in League One given the support they have. Without Sunderland, I would think that ITFC will be the biggest team in League One, and with my optimistic hat on, we should be pushing for top two, and that will be easier for us without Sunderland.

I wonder if Dozzell's a bit disillusioned. Having been courted by big Premier League clubs a couple of years ago, but stayed at ITFC on his father's advice. Then that bad injury. This season he's barely played, having been overlooked by Hurst and Lambert, with the prospect of League One football next year. His career has completely stalled.

Lost interest in football
at 15:59 26 Mar 2019

I refuse to pay exorbitant Sky subscription, so only Premier football I watch is the highlights on Match of the Day. I have a Now TV stick which is basically Sky on Demand, and pay the £8.99 for a 24 hours Sports Pass to watch Ipswich if their away game is featured, so not very often, and even less next season in League One no doubt!
