We might end up keeping Ahadme. Kieran must've seen something in him to sign him. He's young and raw like Al Hamadi. Maybe a Championship loan next season with his value increasing considerably if he stays fit. |

No wholesale changes please. Evolution not Revolution. Need backup for both full back positions - remember Axel is really a centre back and if he stays fit, will provide good options there in addition to the current CB's. Midfield backup for Morsy and Luongo as both now in their 30's. Another forward (or two) to add to Hirst and Al Hamedi. Hopeful we can keep Hutchinson and Sarmiento - preferably sign them permanently rather than loan |

Everyone said we were too good to go down. I also remember our 1st home game back in the Championship , or whatever it was called then. We absolutely hammered Leicester - was it 5 or 6 - 1? Yes we'll go straight back up in a carnival of goals. How wrong was I. Administration followed by the dark days of Marcus Evans. Now in my late 60's, I thought I'd never see us in the Premier league again. Let's do the business today & banish those dark days. It's been a marvellous couple of seasons. Long may it continue. |
| Forum Reply | Raise a glass to Paul Cook at 15:27 3 May 2024
Cook signed some good players, true, but some not so good. Grateful to him particularly for the Sam Morsy signing, because I'm not sure Sam would have dropped a division for anyone else at the time. Clearly though he was like a kid in a sweetshop with the Gamechanger money, and jobs for all his scouse mafia mates. [Post edited 3 May 15:28]

I suspect we’ll be bookies favourites for relegation. I for one, will consider anything less than Champions League qualification as a failure 😎 |

Just listened to him on Sky. Top man, articulate and balanced. He's got a great future |

Credit QPR. If they played like that all season they'd be Play offs at least. My favourite 2nd team for a week or two |

Just want to enjoy a comfortable win with no stress like the 6 nil against Sheff Wed. I know it won't be though. Blood pressure through the roof again I fear!!! |
| Forum Reply | Jack Taylor at 12:49 9 Apr 2024
I think Jack Taylor should be given an opportunity now. Massimo has been a bit below his best recently. As for Downes, I would see him more as a Morsy replacement rather than as a partner, but that could only happen if we get promoted due to the cost, and in any case I don't think he'd want to come back even if McKenna wanted him. |
| Forum Reply | Sir Samuel Morsy. at 09:48 2 Apr 2024
Yes - Cook signed some very good players (and some not so good too), but fair play to him, how he managed to persuade Middlesborough (I believe Neil Warnock was their manager at the time) to let us have him, and then to persuade Sam to drop a division is amazing. |
| Forum Reply | Sir Samuel Morsy. at 08:50 2 Apr 2024
I think 2 more yellows and he misses 3 games. If we do end up in playoffs, should he get his 2nd booking in the last match v Huddersfield, he would miss both play off semis and the final. Not good. However, when actually in the play-offs, then bookings again start from zero. That's my understanding. Fingers crossed that unfortunate set of circumstances don't happen! [Post edited 2 Apr 8:52]

Sam is the top man. Game after game he’s an 8 out of ten. Thank you Paul Cook for him. Amazing to think Middlesbrough gave us Morsy and Luongo for free. I’d love to know what they think about that now. Morsy my player of the year , no one even close. |

I think so too. Maybe on the bench, as no time for recovery after 120 plus minutes. A late night last night, travel back today, then travel again tomorrow to Blackburn. Surely too much to expect him to start on Friday? |
| Forum Reply | Southgate on borrowed time? at 22:42 23 Mar 2024
I’ve always blamed him for losing the Euros final in 2020. His ultra negative tactics remind me of Mick McCarthy. With the attacking talent we have currently, he needs to be far more adventurous. Yes I think he’s on borrowed time but no clear successor if we want an English man as national manager, which I certainly would prefer. |
| Forum Reply | Kieran McKenna would probably win England the world cup at 16:04 22 Mar 2024
It's a moot point I suppose. I've always assumed he's Northern Irish, but true, just googled him and see that he was born in London. I'm guessing he considers himself to be Northern Irish though & I expect if N Ireland are playing England, as a fan he'd probably want N Ireland to win. [Post edited 22 Mar 16:05]

That's absolutely correct. I've got the playoff final date marked on my Calendar so neither me nor the missus books anything. Fingers and toes crossed now. I'll be cheering for Man Utd for the first time in my life. |

I still haven't got over it yet. Would have been top of the league over the international break. Pleased to say the team seem to be over it though, judging by the magnificent performance Saturday |
