Morgan Whittaker - how fortunes change
at 08:48 4 Nov 2024

Correct

Mind you apparently statistically the worst Championship performance since Opta
Started collecting data

So probably not the worst game to be rested

Tough watch though.

Don’t know if Plymouth have been good or it’s just Luton can’t defend.
at 12:16 28 Sep 2024

To be fair we dont know yet either

Early days but barring opening Sunday where we seemed to freeze we are competitive in what looks a much more open division than last season and Rooney is winning the local hearts and minds

Playing more like under Schumacher but with a steelier defence. Grins she looks as good as cooper was. szuchs and Gibson decent in the middle and cissoko is now being more incisive having abandoned the twenty theee step over routines

It’s very confusing. Almost as confusing as being pleased to see Morsy score against saints to ruin russells weekend

Slight deflection. I know you hate those. 😇

Hope you get a win on the board soon.

Now for a relaxing weekend not caring about the scores coming in.

Have a great season. I see you have a Plymouthianish goal.

In My best sergeant wilson voice.

do you think that’s wise sir??

Plymouth owner

So in defence of our owner I very much doubt he has brought Wazza in for his image rights

Simon Hallett is a bright guy. He believes in giving the manager a support network which he has built over the years. Hence when Lowe and Schumacher arrived and the Lowe took the Preston shilling everyone was shocked when Schumacher got the gig. It worked but Hallet always said the real test would be when Schumacher lost a few games. Indeed before that when Lowe had a bad run there was never any talk of getting rid

He also said is Schumacher lost the dressing room he would build him a new one rather than sack him

So when the stoke helicopter landed the recruitment process was Halley the ceo Andrew Parkinson and Neil Dewsnip. It’s very much a three man decision Same when they decided to remove Foster. Halley himself has said he felt Foster was the right choice from the candidates but results dictated that if they wanted to survive he had to go. Hallett view was that was the failure of the selection team more than that of Ian Foster

As for Rooney hallett says the data supports Rooney being a a better manager than his results show. At Derby as people have pointed out he was a mid table side that had a huge points deduction. At Brum he never had a pre season or a window Washington he improved the side.

It’s fair to say initial reaction at HP was luke warm. Rooney has turned that round. He seems to have bought into the club ethos. Playing style is aggressive and forward thinking. Signings are left field and exciting. Whittaker seems settled. cooper may be off but better now for cash then next season for nothing. Of course friendlies mean nothing. But assuming we don’t ship five goals for the first three games in a row then I think he will have the crowd Behind him.

So if we hired him it’s because we and more importantly the management team think it could work. Not because he is famous.

Not long to find out now. Now hurry up and buy szmodics !!

Wishing you a fun season. Don’t hurry back

Back in for Morgan Whittaker?
at 11:16 12 Jun 2024

The new model is that we have a player fund and it is designed to make profit from sales that a re reinvested. It was how we funded Whittaker and Mumba so as with any of our players they are for sale if the profit is sufficient to allow us to reinvest and improve the squad.

There are whispers that he and Rooney have issues going back to his Being subbed as a sub but I would be surprised if that was an issue still. We still have three years on his contract. He obviously wanted to come down to Argyle and has thrived. Our Chairman also has spoken of the clubs need to make sure that as and when we sell we do so with his interests in mind as well. He thought kazoo was not a good deal for Mw.

We also have a chunky sell on to Swansea to take into account

So yes he could go this summer. Part will depend on who we can bring in to play that role assuming Wazza keeps the same system.

He seems to be a player who needs to feel loved. As for lazy I would say no but second half of the season he was double marked a lot and people were clued up to the cut in and shoot routine

Looking at the names we have been linked with I think there is a plan to bring in a young similar player and bring them on to replace him so I would say next season more likely than this for a sale. But if someone drops a silly number on the table then would we sell? absolutely if we can replace.

Should start to heat up next week. Looking forward to seeing your new players list. And to being able to enjoy you winning again. Assuming you do!

As for us. Fifteenth here we come !

Actually yes. Eight figure

Must have been a Norwich source and I was confused by the two spare digits when he held his hands up to explain

Bring announce on Monday we believe

As ever pros and cons

You know the cons

However he may bring ten figure investment with him. There’s an argument we are already the lowest budget and relegation favourites so a manager who attracts that level of investment is to coin a phrase. A game changer

he did ok at Derby in awful climate
Made No impact at Washington but they were bottom when he joined

Birmingham. Inherited a squad built to play one way and was told to play another. Then sacked before he could get his players in

However is also thought to want Ryan alsopp to replace Cooper ( Celtic bound) so is clearly a nutter!

Time will tell. But it is happening so we are all wazzamen now

Managers hey! bloody hell

All over bar the shouting. Enjoy your day, and don't forget to hammer that final nail in the 'uddersfield coffin.

It has been a remarkable season for you. Thoroughly deserved. I am loving the Mighty Whites and Martins Smarmy Army battling it out in the Play-Offs too.

The apology?

Well tomorrow I am also very much hoping Norwich do the business because I have a horrible feeling we may need them to. It's purely temporary. They did at least give us the goal difference that gives us hope when they visited. I hope you can forgive such self interest.

With any luck it will be while before you get troubled by us again....but I hope we hold on and who knows...I mean......Luton Town!!!!!!!!!!!!

And before you ask about Whittaker...two goals in fourteen. Nothing to see here :)

Look forward to you being runners up again next year :)

Your friendly green

Plus saints are still to play the other two

Just don’t be on the beach for Huddersfield just in case.

Fingers crossed for you now

The Plymouth v Ipswich 60/1 game which is a single sheet played at Torquay goes for anywhere between £75 and £110.

The green uns will also go for a bit

I have a contact that will buy any that feature press reports of derek Dougan

Football programme forum is also worth a look

Sporting Gold or David Stacey will give you a good idea what they would go for at auction

And that’s why after a couple of seasons I still come and read opinions on here. Because by and large most are fair minded reasonable and knowledgeable.

Most sites have a core of decent fans who can take a joke. Know they are unnaturally biased and that their teams “hard man” is the oppositions “cowardly thug” that every team in the league gets biased refs but only against them etc etc

So I smile when someone says after reading an opposition site they have changed their opinion and now hope they smash us three nil. Because before what they really hoped for was a narrow one nil. Nope. Didn’t think so.

Every site has nutters. Agents provocateurs and wind up merchants.

So I appreciate it when people say they enjoy the write ups. Especially as the poster before this who didn’t is right. They are unashamedly written for the Argyle fraternity. There is an archive if you want to see how I abused the budgies I am an equal opportunities offender.

Or try to be.

I am here as your guest. So I try to at least treat my hosts as I would like to be treated by them. By and large that’s fine here. And most other sites. I also came on here when we had a young fan suffering from cancer who sadly died and your fans response was terrific. As were Wednesday Oxford and several other sites I frequent. Because deep down it’s just football.

I enjoy watching your lot. Except for twice a season or on the rare occasions we are chasing the same end. I expect your fans are the same

So I hope we have a crushing win tomorrow. I fear you could. But I’ll still pop back and share opinions and be pleased for you I’d you get promoted because I love the way you play football.

Still think you stiffed us for Mariner though.

Safe travels

So it probably isn’t that surprising to at we are discussing your better players just before we play you.

Also that our memories of them are mainly coloured by the games we played against you

Or that we are biased towards our side as you are to yours.

I hear you want Morgs if you go up.

So this is a catchall reply to the various points raised

There is no rivalry between the clubs, or at least no lasting one....we've moved on to Stoke, but before Ipswich it was whycome (my tm), Luton and a friendly one with QPR...eg when we have a shot at something good then we as every club does , become more interested in what's happening ng to the club around us.

I do recall last season a fair buit of banter over testing Whittaker when the Swans recalled him too, but its all fair. But come on , silver polish called Towntalk....how could I resist!

Our rivalry is Exeter, but they are normally below us, yours is Norwich and you finally caught them back up :) We are more vexed about them playing we'll meet again the time we r==went to the basement ....although it was quite funny in retrospect.

Morsy. It's the Randell tackle. Although the Evans one was worse in that game. He is snide..I watched him trip a Rotherham player off the ball kind of because he could on TV. But like I say, would I be happy to see him in green...absolutely. We loved Matete on loan but he was a walking red card. And if you want a true psycho who would hurt people then read Andy Morrisons auto biography.

The Chaplin dive thing was his attempt to block when Mumba scored. He isn't any worse than any other forward and he's a clever player. Hope he is on the bench for you tomorrow.

I'll be rooting for you to go up after tomorrow. I would rather anyone who isn't being paid for failing .

Cheers
