ITFC programmes 14:58 - Mar 4 with 2591 viewsBlueandTruesince82

I'm not a collector of such things though I do have a copy of our glorious FA cup victory on the wall.

This weekend I came across another 2 that sha join it, not quite as exciting but still cool IMO.

1. 1979 UEFA cup 2nd round 2nd leg Vs Grasshopper Zurich
2. 1975 1st round 2nd leg vs Feyenoord.

These were amongst a whole bunch of old programmes (many ITFC along with quite a few Leicester and Luton) in a vintage shop in Northampton of all places.

Mrs B and T thought it was hilarious I could get so excited about such things.

Quite a dull post really but I told her there would be a dark corner of the interest that would understand

I was clearing out my shed recently and have many such programmes and have been wondering what to do with them. I have selected some few for keeping but am puzzled as to what to do with the rest. They mostly go from 1975 - 83. (about 60-70 of them) I may have more when I get to the back of the shed. I was ever present during Bobby's reign and always had a programme.

Thinking about it I will look them all out and offer them to this forum as a job lot.

Money to EACH.

Dont bombard me yet because they are not catalogued nor yet completed. They will all be in good nick.
Can anybody tell me if there would be interest ?

On the same thing I have some 100's of Green 'Uns from the same era
What do you think ?

I know I am interested and would certainly part with some funds for it but there will certainly be interest. Pricing on programmes is a little strange and I can't work it but maybe if you have enough interest an auction of some kind?

Or just sell to me if I am being selfish about it.

My brother sold his collection of programmes at a specialist auction at Felixstowe a few years ago. He got north of 10 grand.

There's specialist magazines/groups dedicated to these so there will be expert advice around. I forget who runs the ITFC collectors group etc but the club might be able to help you.

Interest and prices seem to fluctuate, Snr is a massive collector and often wastes me inheritance on them dating back to the 30's. Gonna be the most expensive bonfire when he goes!

Thanks for all this. I've not got to the back of the shed yet but I know there is a shopping cart full of them and green uns. All the same vintage. I can see I have to look into it.

The days of football programme shops. As a kid my parents took me monthly to one in Burnley. Part time job at 14 , buying zx spectrum games and programmes. Think I've got nearly 1000 plus in loft. Some testimonial ones with autographs too. You given me an idea now lol

Aside from a few rarities, Town programmes from the 1970s onwards do not change hands for much money. Good condition programmes from the pre-war period can go for around £200, while post-war to late 1950s are valuable but become cheaper with age. You can pay £5-10 for a good condition programme from the late 1950s. The 61/2 season is collectible for good reason and some of the games are quite rare, so typically £5-10 with the harder to find games up to £30. That aside, some of our away European game where production runs were low command good fees. I have seen the Las Palmas programme change hands for £400, and Barcelona 77-8 for £50+.

Pre-season friendlies, including those played overseas, again with limited print runs can go for good money, but this is a more niche part of the market and not all collectors bother with friendly matches.

Ebay can give you an idea on prices and is worth a look. Or google any of the programme dealers who have online sites to get an idea of what they are charging.

In the 70’s the Club shops atITFC used to sell some other programs. In about 78’ I bought a 1954 Cup Final program from under the West stand, seemed a historic document despite being less than 25 years old. When eBay came around I got £60 for it from a WBA fan. Our matchV Liverpool in 76’ fetches upwards of a tenner, but that’s because of the Sex Pistols Ad’ inside!

Steve is a proper OG and I'm amazed he's still going I thought he'd retire. I went to school with his son and didn't realise for years.

The Plymouth v Ipswich 60/1 game which is a single sheet played at Torquay goes for anywhere between £75 and £110.

The green uns will also go for a bit

I have a contact that will buy any that feature press reports of derek Dougan

Football programme forum is also worth a look

Sporting Gold or David Stacey will give you a good idea what they would go for at auction

Have got many 70' 80's programmes, but not worth much. Used to always buy a programme but nowadays don't bother as full of adverts and large photos; so not much content. Favourite programme the black edged one in a season late 70's? A well designed nice read programme. Mine somewhere in loft. Will try and complete all European ties collection especially looking forward to getting the home to A C Milan!

I found an old Ipswich Town programme in my loft when I moved in years ago. Its was Div 3 South vs Southend ..I think 1953? a little paper programme. Ive still got it .

I also found loads of old newspapers ( nationals) , and it was talking about the England team going off to play Russia, and how a young midfielder was wearing his "lucky waistcoat" as he boarded the plane. His name was Robert Robson and there was a picture of him i his suite and wearing a dapper waistcoat underneath

Poll: Would this current Town team beat the current narwich team

I remember at the Suffolk Show few years back the supporters club/trust/foundation literally could not give away Town programmes from the 80s onwards era for free, and they had lots, that's how collectable they are.
