Arguably our best Striker, Midfielder and Defender all gone
at 11:21 15 Jul 2025

Lots and lots of bedwetting going on right now.

There's still 4+ weeks till the season starts and 7-8 weeks left of the transfer window!

Devastating blow, so gutted to lose Sam (n/t)

Do we really think McKenna and Ashton don't know we need 2-3 new midfielders if Morsy goes? They've been planning this rebuild for months.

Yeah that's a really fine way to treat your iconic captain.

I repeat - if he doesn't want to be a bit-part player and continue setting training ground standards, why would we want to keep him under duress?

I think that goes without saying if you're happy to let your long-time captain move on.

My point is that there's always a churn in squads. Parachute clubs have a huge advantage over the rest of the league when it comes to squad building, as Burnley proved.

Chelsea aren't a comparable case, since they operate in another stratosphere to us.

Burnley signed circa 15-20 players last season and racked up 100 points and lost only two games all season.

You're assuming that Morsy would be happy playing a bit-part role though? He may still feel he has 2-3 years in the tank to give another project?

Omari release clause expires on Tuesday
at 08:58 15 Jul 2025

Oh his agent will definitely be doing his best to tout him to PL clubs. He wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't, surely?

But I know for a fact that Omari loves working under KM and has immense respect for him. Omari's family also believe KM to be the best person to guide/nurture his career, which is still at a *very* early stage. It's hard to believe he's still only 21.

The fact we *could* possibly get Matusiwa, Ruiz and Cajuste for a combined £22m-£23m feels like the best potential business in the club's history IMO.

And to think people wanted us to push for Downes at £18m on his own!

My word, if we can keep Omari and have a starting double pivot of Matusiwa and Ruiz, I do fear for the Championship.

EDIT: The way that paragraph is worded, it sounds like *this* Tuesday to me?!

Somebody make it make sense?

Well, using our significant financial advantage over the rest of the Championship to futureproof our midfield isn't a bad reason...

You have to remember our Egyptian King is 34 at the start of this season. He's been a huge part of our success, but is he realistically going to be part of our next chapter? No. Separate the romanticism and it's a sensible move for all parties.

Offer in for Marcel Ruiz…

Also worth noting Ruiz has the same agent as Marcelo Flores, who we tried to re-sign 18 months ago. Lines of communication won't have been too difficult here.

Offer in for Marcel Ruiz…

I think it was obvious the club were hacked-off that our interest had leaked on the MX side and wanted to play it down to avoid showing their hand too early.

If Morsy's off, as expected, Ruiz and Matusiwa would soften the blow a helluva lot.

Matsuiwa- Our new midfied general?
at 07:54 14 Jul 2025

Of course, you're not considering it from Sam's point of view.

Hypothetically speaking (*ahem*) if he was offered a 3 year deal in the Middle East or a 2 year deal with a 1 year option at Derby.... or just run down his contract here and go into summer 2026 unattached as a 35-year-old midfielder. It'd be a no-brainer for him to get security elsewhere, no?

Early morning transfer news…
at 06:45 12 Jul 2025

Kin ell. Someone told me we were watching the Gold Cup closely, but it was assumed US players were the target. I watched the final back and my word, he was impressive. As someone else said, he had the better of Tyler Adams all night.

My only thought is that he, like Jack Taylor, feels more of a box to box 8 than someone suited to a double pivot. But I could be wrong?

Played a lot of football for an 18-year-old. 6ft+ and eight assists in the SPL last season. Could he be the like-for-like replacement for Taylor? Then one more to come in as Luongo's replacement.
