He's 17, just learning his craft at senior level, playing against opponents bigger, stronger and more experienced than himself. Yesterday was only his 5th start in the League.
The lad can pick a pass, has skill on the ball. He just can't yet do it consistently, nor yet the hard physical stuff required in midfield in the Championship. |  |

What you've said Guthers plus he's looked very good when we played teams where he's had that bit more space to create like against Bristol and Blackburn in a way that no one else has for ages. |  | | |

Except that with our severe shortage of effective creative midfield players at the moment, I don't think we can afford to send him out on loan. | |

All were starting matches before their body had finished growing. All became (or in the case of Teddy is seemingly becoming) sicknotes.
The last thing Andre needs is a loan to a lower team where he will play on crap pitches in a much more physical league.

We know MM doesn't have much parience with youngsters & we know Dozzell Jnr has done well under other manager / coaches.
Geo Burley made his debut against George Best at a similar age to what AD is now.
I very much doubt, after listening to what MM says, he would have blooded a 17 year old in such exalted company & I have severe reservations as to where GB would have made it big with MM as his manager /coach. | | | |

He is very much an MM type player, hence his breakthrough and glowing praise from Mick. What he's not is fully grown let alone finished.
This time next year he'll be a competent Champ player with the potential to go on further. |  |
