Wickham Models England Kit
Wickham Models England Kit
Wednesday, 1st Sep 2010 13:09

Town striker Connor Wickham is one of 11 players modelling the new England kit on the FA’s website. The England senior side will wear the new strip for the first time on Friday when they face Bulgaria in their opening Euro 2012 qualifier.

England U17 international Wickham isn’t the only non-senior player featured alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott, Adam Johnson and Joe Hart, Jade Bailey, a 14-year-old England Women’s U17, Eric Dier, a 16-year-old defender in Sporting Lisbon’s youth set-up and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere are also part of the campaign.

Wickham, who is only a couple of weeks away from returning from his ankle injury, scored the winning goal as England won the European U17 Championships in Liechtenstein in May.

Never has human kind's ape-ancestry been more apparent than with this photo of Rooney.

The kit looks like a T-shirt from Topman shop...

I won't be buying it. You buy an England shirt for the World Cup, then straight afterwards they release a new one. The FA are just a bunch of money grabbers.

What's 'new' about that kit? Disgraceful rip off of the fans who've just shelled out for the one which was 'tailored by Umbro'.

Not a big favourite of that shirt. Wickham will be wearing that for the "main" team soon. Rooney and Wickham are the future.

The kit is truly awful on many counts. The shirt looks like it comes from Matalan and the shorts are just the wrong colour. England's colours are white and NAVY blue, not this ghastly mid-blue. The designer and those who accpeted it need their heads tested.

Rooney and Walcott weren't really there were they?

Hideously bad photoshopping to match the shirt then

I'm glad to see that the blue shorts are back and that the stupid collars are gone. But, oh me oh my, what an utterly ridiculous photograph and what utterly terrible photoshopping.

i liked the current (now old) kit - that'll be me picking it up for a bargain tenner in jb sports then now the new one is out for all the numpties that buy each and every kit.

light blue has been used for kits before - used to be our 2nd (3rd?) kit going way back and i also remember a light blue kit during the Taylor era...

Connor nearly hides the guy behind even when he is kneeling down !!!!
Great for him - shows he is highly thought of .

The photoshoot surely did not happen - it looks like a painting.
Is Wembley really in the middle of the countryside ?

Only good thing I can say about at least there are no bloody swirls or other gay markings. Don't we change our shirts this year? Hope we go for a plain Blue shirt like the one from the 72/73 season. Have to say the current one is the second worst kit we have ever had with the worst one being that one that ran out of dye......

Wasn't the last England kit only just released???? (Maybe I'm out of touch having not bought any kit for years - apart from bargin basement town ones to wear at the gym). Looks bloody awful and reminds me of my middle school kit from the 80's - perhaps they should worry more about the cartoons who wore the last one in South Africa rather than showing off a new one.

Wouldn't be caught wearing one after the fiasco of South Africa. Overpaid prima donna's !!!!

Rooney: still world class despite the World Cup.

Good to see Connor feature in such a high calibre (in terms of players, not the shot itself) photo-shoot. A definite one for the future and hopefully this season he can achieve his true potential - or at least help us reach the playoffs.

Full credit to the FA's graphics team who (as most have spotted) have made a wonderful pixar photoshop mess of the official photo... but also to the genius who pictured the new kit on the FA website on a completely white background so curious onlookers like me can't even bloomin' see it properly!

Perhaps a black background would have been a better choice!

P.S. You may also note on the FA website the kit is listed as the 10/11 kit, so expect a new one real soon I reckon!
