Pezzoni Back in Germany and Waiting on Town Decision
Monday, 17th Sep 2012 15:15

Trialist Kevin Pezzoni is back in Germany and is still to hear Town’s decision on whether he will be offered a contract at Portman Road.

The ex-FC Köln man was with the Blues between Tuesday and Thursday last week as he looks for a new side having been hounded out of his previous club by violent fans.

A source close to the player says the former Germany U21 international is yet to learn whether he did enough to impress Blues manager Paul Jewell and his staff: “He is waiting to hear a decision from the club.”

Jewell wouldn’t comment one way or the other regarding the free agent after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough, saying he would speak about the situation later in the week with his pre-match press conference ahead of the Wolves game on Tuesday.

If we don't offer him something he must be pretty crap - considering he was auditioning against a blank space in the squad list!

I still think we need a centre back just to have one on the bench, even if its a short term loan we dont have to sign somebody for 93 days.

allie if you're going to post complete tripe, maybe read the story first. He's a free agent.

Too tall, too young, too german and not a Prem reject. He's a centre back. and we could probably afford him so won't happen.

Agree with walberswick! Really good height and age - a Premiership footballer (albeit German Premiership) up until the Summer. Oh, and he knows the English game having spent five years at Blackburn in the youth team. Surely he is a better bet than the present incumbents. What are we waiting for?!!!!

Oh yes (gibbo) - he's a (English-speaking, 6'4") free-agent too ie. not a loan player, so can be with us long-term if he is any good. Come on Ipswich!

You can still sign a free agent on a short term loan.

would be a good signing for us but i fear that is not enough. we are gettin stuck i n a rut and if we dont shore up backline soon confidence will be shot need couple of signings and some luck then maybe things will improve.

Just for once why can't we take a chance with a player, we have nothing to loose with this lad he seems to tick all the boxes, you can't play at this level with only 2 centre backs in your squad, and 1 of them never had a break in the summer and has spent the last 2 weeks travelling the world playing for his country.

How many times have we heard this , " we will not be signing him " so many centre backs have been in and out of portman road lately , it is a wonder a jewel knows who he is looking at anymore , i really cant see us getting much if anything from the wolves game on wednesday , so the next question is - how long has jewel got left ? i really hope not too long.

Heard at dinner time he is not being offered a deal typical we can be so picky as we have so many CBs We just need some one just to be on the bench will do.
Evans, Clegg and Jewell please just leave

...... he'll have a long wait - waiting for this shower to act - yet another 'impressed' player to add to the already long list of such people.

Stuart Watson wrote on the Ipswich Star webchat lunchtime: "I've heard that Town won't be going for Pezzoni. Told he impressed in one training session and then looked very average in the other two. Shame because he has good pedigree (Bundesliga/German U21 international) and would've added some needed height at 6ft 5in. Have to trust coaches' judgement though"

..... my wish is that this Club will one day return to the ownership (consortium almost certainly) of people who really care about the future and general well being of IPSWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB.

Such people are, or indeed were, out there - FACT.

Just wondering... how many of these people commenting have seen Pezzoni play or can say to be educated in terms of his ability? I have no idea about how good he is, so therefore (for now) back the club's judgement.

Considering Jewell couldn't decide on Mohsni in a week if he gets this guy after 3 days it would seem desperate. But then again we are desperate lol
