Scholars Offered Pro Deals
Thursday, 14th Feb 2013 20:13

Second-year scholars Jack Marriott, Tom Winter (pictured), Jonny Leddy, Mark Timlin and David October have been offered professional contracts by the Blues, we understand.

Marriott, from Kettering, and Ipswich-born Winter, who has been at the club since he was eight, have been regular scorers for the U18s this season.

Central midfielder Leddy, from Cavan, has won caps with the Republic of Ireland at U16, U17 and U18 levels, while winger Timlin, from Buncrana, has previously played for Ireland at U16 level.

Left-back October, from Cambridge, has skippered Russell Osman's U18s this season.

Meanwhile, another of the scholars who joined the club in the summer of 2011, midfielder Shaun Meikle, has joined St Johnstone in his native Scotland.

Good luck to all the scholars on the transition to being professionals. Hope we see a few of them pushing for first team places in the next year or so.

Could be first teamers next season if we drop down! Sign up and don't end up like Callum Bennett who is now without a club. Well done lads, now push on further.

Great news, they've worked hard this year and have a great opportunity to push on through the U21s next year and hopefully to the first team in time

Its good news that Town has give these lads a chance and lets hope they progress and play for our first team and not other teams.
I see some of them have played for the countrys at thier leval so they look promising lads.

Must admit very supprised to see alot of these lads been offered proffessional contracts i have watched the youth teams play many times over the years and as for U18s level i can honestly say it is the worse side i have seen.
On the positive side at least these lads get the opportunity now to develop technically and physically and hopefully will become better players.
