Fulham Targeting JET
Friday, 31st May 2013 07:00

Premier League Fulham are keen to sign Blues midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas in a swap deal which we understand would involve two of their young players moving in the opposite direction. The 22-year-old, who has a year left on his contract, was made available by Town boss Mick McCarthy at the end of the season.

The Cottagers, who were believed to have shown interest in the former Arsenal man last summer, are understood not to be offering any cash for the Londoner but two of their youngsters in a proposed swap deal.

Emmanuel-Thomas made 43 starts and 32 substitute appearances, scoring nine goals, after joining the Blues from the Gunners in the summer of 2011 for a fee which ultimately could have reached £2 million.

Town legend Brian Talbot, a Fulham scout, was a regular visitor to Portman Road during the second half of the season.

Can't see us getting much if any cash for JET so although not knowing who this is attractive idea.
Seems unusual though so would be suprised if this went any further.

p.s... i do think that jet will always be a nearly man, if anyone was going to get the full potential from him, it was going to be TC and MM.... coyb

Very surprising that a premier league club would want JET - could be another Delaney - very average for us but leaves and plays miles better - gutting if this happens again

Do Fulham still own David Stockdale?

I think the premiership style of Footie will suit his style and maybe he will knuckle down as clearly he feels he is above the championship, wouldn't be Suprised if he was successful tbh, just think his attitude is all wrong for this club

I would take two of Fulham's ball boys (or Girls for the feminists amongst you), for Jet any day.

Could JET be the new Dalian Atkinson?
Sell on clause, please.

Kerim Frei would be a decent swap but I doubt Fulham would agree to that one.

Maybe on my own but think this is a big mistake ,letting a 22 year old go who on his day is a match winner and who has more in his locker than the majority of the squad put together . Should build teams around these individuals .
Think it may be another youngster who goes on to do better things elsewhere ?

I think bluelady is spot on, given the right coaching and a decent amount of playing time I think JET can become a success at a Premier League club, he clearly feels that playing in the Championship is below him. Many of us on here thought that he should kick start his career at a League One club but I think that would further stall his career.

I wonder who we could receive in return if this deal goes through.

Watched a couple of Fulham U18 games last season (they're my local club), and one player stood out head and shoulders above the rest...

If there's any truth to this story and one of the 2 players we're targeting turns out to be this chap, it'd be a good bit of business regardless of who the 2nd player is!

This is certainly a good move for the player, whose career is at a very important crossroads between hard work and party life.

Whether it's a good move for us will only be clear once we know who these lads from Fulham are. Knowing mm I'd bet at least one of them is q cb!

why don't we let him live train and party in Fulham and have back for the games. Perhaps living in Ipswich is too boring

Had high hopes for this guy but like others have said I think he came with the inflated idea that he was more talented than most in the championship and would stand out. Unfortunately he has been found out. Whilst I don't like to see such a player go he has failed to live up to his potential or take his chance to shine and any deal to see him swapped with young and hopefully hungrier players has to be a good thing.

BOGOFF as long as they take Chops as part of the deal!

Bizarre from Fulham, but fair enough! I'm happy to take a punt on a couple of their youngsters. Win win!

The JET debate is going to run for a very long time! I agree surco but over the course of a championship season we need more and MM and TC clearly want grafters!

Time to trawl the Fulham squad and see who it could be. Sounds like an interesting deal. No one from Fulham springs to mind though!!

I honestly think this will be a bIg mistake letting him go. With MM and TC getting hold of JET during pre season, getting him 100% fit for next season, I think he can make a massive impact. If JET wants to go to Fulham to be a bench warmer like Wickham was at Sunderland then so be it, but I hope he makes the right decision and doesn't follow the money...
