Town Confirm Tabb Extension
Monday, 18th May 2015 18:24

Town have confirmed that midfielder Jay Tabb’s contract has been extended for a further year.

As reported earlier, the 31-year-old’s existing deal included a clause for an additional season which the club has activated.

Former Irish U21 international Tabb has made 57 starts and 24 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring four times, since joining Town, initially on loan from Reading, in March 2013.

C'mon 'Tabby' was always going to get an extension! Mick loves him, so that's the genuine quality for the left side sorted for the midfield (slight hint of sarcasm).

Very much an MM type player, so it's no surprise.

This is a joke right ???? Contract extension for the Dwaf but not for Ando who was one of our best players in the play off games. Are we really going to be trying to move forward and progress next season?? Well if Tabb is anywhere near our squad we are hardly stronger. We overachieved this season and it was a magnificent roller coaster ride but we need better players and more depth to the squad. Tabb is NOT good enough by a long long way !!!

Not doubt Tabb is a hard worker, but to finally get out of this division we need players who can do more than just that !

Ees great is Tabby!
Not the most talented but loves a battle & was good in some of the real battles last season when he gets in the opposition faces & doesn't give them time.

^^agree cooper, hard work will only get you so far, you can teach hard work and being organized but you can't teach flair and quality...

Too many static midfielders in our squad, no real game changers, if we want the next step that needs to change.

Come on guys give him a break. He's worked really hard for us this season and I think there has actually been end product both in defence and attack at times from him this season. I don't think both he and Skuse should be in the same team at the same time, but def worth extension. I'm sure MM will be looking to add another more natural left sided player to the squad this summer.

Nobody agrees with managers decisions all the time.... this for me, is one of them!

The main reason why we made the play-offs was due to the team spirit and Tabb has typified that spirit as much as anyone. He will be a very good role model for Bishop and the young lads in the academy. Surly that is worth a new contract?

Tabb has very limited style on the ball but he may not have signed that he will be a regular.

Like Tabb or not - he's activated the clause in his contract so fair shout to him.

Just hope to NEVER see him out wide again and others ahead of him in the lineup to be honest.

At the end of the day us supporters will always have differing opionions about players, but can anybody really question MM decision making after what he`s done for this club.I certainly would not.

So Tabb is the latest hate figure! I completely see why MM has kept him, hard working reliable and surprisingly good in the air. So funny ando scores against the scum and everyone else forgets how average he has been all season. Don't get me wrong our midfield needs considerable strengthening but Tabb plays a part.

I thought here was time to off load him but MM still sees mor ethan most fans.Old Tabby is very likable and oes his best but he's slow his passing is dire and his height puts him under presure so often. Yes he tries hard and runs around but thats all. Just hope the rest of the midfield mor ethan compensate and that he isnt needed much.

Not surprised the haters are out for Tabb, but they shouldn't be. Breaks up the play, lots of important tackles & headers won, a number of assists & two important goals. MM can't break all of the squad up & whilst he may not be 1st choice next season, I can see why Mick has re-signed him.

Haters, relax.

As for Ando, hard working but not enough end product, all huff & puff. General nice guy but we need a pacey winger, a la Alan Judge or Pritchard, Matt Ritchie. That will be the difference & a proper right back with centre backs playing their correct side!

How many times have we heard MM describe Tabb as "different class" over the season so no surprise to me that he is staying. Genuinely surprised with regard to Ando though but suspect that MM has someone in mind. Will be interesting to see if a bid is made for Jonny Williams.
I think that if we strengthen the midfield (2 quality players needed) get a good striker to compete with Murph, Sears and McG, sign a good right back who can also cover the other side in an emergency, and we are just about there.

This is incredible.
We haven't even hit the beach yet and we have 'fans' berating Ipswich players and the manager. If the season showed us anything, MM knows what he's doing. He got us the playoffs when there were calls from some on this very article calling for him to be sacked. For me Tabb, like Ando, Skuse and a number of other unsung heroes were slayed by the FIFA 15 experts and keyboard warriors on TWTD message boards.
Fcuking shameful.

People are blinded by their faith in MM. Without doubt he is the man to get us out of this division but that does not mean everyone should agree with every decision he makes. Tabb is a headless chicken who regularly gives the ball away and (like a lot of our midfield) creates nothing on a consistent basis. 81 games 4 goals. Not good enough. Realistically our short comings are clear, we need pace creativity and goals from midfield. Tabb gives you none of these. People say he could be cover for skuse, doh ! That's Hyam ! Please people stop the "in mick we trust" stuff and have an opinion of your own that may differ from that of our manager. Ask yourself which of the other top 6 teams midfield would Jay Tabb have got in ?? Exactly !!

We might just want Tabb as he's on a low wage and he be there for cover - we know he'll give his all every game he plays, he's just not the best technically!

Mick's released several first team players hopefully to clear the way for some quality to come in in those areas, so lets trust him for the moment!

I'll attempt to chew my arm off if Tabby, S.Hunt, Anderson and Ambrose are all here at the start of next season - 1 down 3 to go.

Anderson does give us a bit of creativity at times and did fairly well in the 2 legs against Nodge but over a course of a season doesn't do enough.

A contract extension can apply from either side. So if the contract he signed had an option to extend from EITHER side then perhaps Tabby rather than the club has exercised that option.

Poor move if you ask me.
