Parr and Touré Start as Knudsen and Fraser Miss Out
Saturday, 3rd Oct 2015 14:08

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made two enforced changes for this afternoon’s game at Blackburn Rovers with Jonny Parr and Larsen Touré coming into the side for the ill Jonas Knudsen and the injured Ryan Fraser.

Parr will be making his first league start of the season at left-back with Touré’s inclusion likely to see Ainsley Maitland-Niles switch to the left of midfield. Daryl Murphy and Freddie Sears continue up front.

Fraser picked up a knock in training on Thursday but his problem isn’t thought to be too serious, while Knudsen was set to start before feeling unwell at the hotel. Town will wear their Barcelona-style away kit for the first time.

For Rovers, Blues nemesis Jordan Rhodes - the striker has scored four goals in five games against his old club - starts but midfielder Danny Guthrie misses out and is replaced by Hope Akpan.

Blackburn: Steele, Henley, Duffy, Hanley (c), Olsson, Marshall, Evans, Akpan, Conway, Lawrence, Rhodes. Subs: Raya, Spurr, Delfouneso, Williamson, Taylor, Petshi, Lenihan.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Parr, Berra, Smith, Skuse, Douglas, Touré, Maitland-Niles, Murphy, Sears. Subs: Bialkowski, Malarczyk, Emmanuel, Bru, Oar, Pitman, McGoldrick.

A big shame we will be wihout Fraser but it will be interesting to see what Toure will do, as he has been looking good when he has played recently.

To get promoted we need to be looking at scoring at least two goals a game. With Skuse and Douglas in the centre of midfield together, it will be very difficult for us to consistently do that with the lack of creativity. Shame about Fraser

Still feel sorry for Bart. He lost his play in the team to unforseen circumstances and should have got his place back when he came back, IF his head was right, after the death of his father. Yes Gerken played slightly better against Brum, yes he made a good save early on against Bristol, but every time the ball goes into our box with Gerken in goal I get the jitters. Bart was coming and claiming crosses and taking pressure off the defence. Has Gerken played well enough to justify his place?? Or does Mick just prefer him to Bart, for some unknown reason

Another defeat and more excuses from the manager about the opposition being in a false position

Still amazed Oar can't get a game, surely has more to offer than Toure

Where the hell is Bru? Or kore the point why is he not in the starting 11. What had Murphy done to justify his inclusion to start? Why is MM's personal favourite Goalkeeper still in the team....oh I think I answered my own question. I cannot see a positive result today but hope I am very wrong,

2 square pegs in 2 round holes today.

Would've liked Bru, and perhaps Oar to start with Douglas and Toure on the bench, but we'll see...

Why oh why is Douglas playing?! Get Bru in alongside Skuse. I beg you Mick! What on earth have you seen in Douglas that puts him in the side each week?!

Same old same old.....how unearth is Gerkin starting and how is murphy still up front ..Mcgoldrick surely deserves his place in front of him....rapidly loosing faith in MM ability to see in front of his own nose ....well done the fans who travelled to see this .....of course more than happy to eat my words but this doesn't inspire ....and that is what the early season optimism was all about ....inspiration ...and that equals fans coming back and positivity ....those first two selections do anything but inspire ...COYB

Our second goal last week came from a burst forward by Douglas. He will prove to be a very good signing.

We are showing our strength on depth now.

Parr only seems to get a start now days if one of the fullback positions is injured, big loss that Fraser isn't playing and it now seems that Douglas is now Mick's favorite, how does he start every week? totally bamboozelling.

I think today has a draw written all over it, not an attack minded team, Chambers out of position yet again, there are however options from the bench, thus far we have just not been quite good enough but hopefully today 3 points, although right now I'd accept 1.

Fraser is a big miss. That midfield doesn't look like a promotion winning one to me. Hope to be proved wrong. Gerken in goal - why? Skuse/Douglas - well it has to work once, so maybe today. Parr is probably a better option than Knudsen, with the latter struggling in recent weeks.

Hampstead Blue. That short surge by Douglas last week was the first notable thing he had done since being at our club

Goodbye mick, you have the best intentions but your stubbornness and willing to adapt has always lead to disaster

Same midfield two. No place for Bru. 2nd worst defence stays in place. Fear the worst.

It's becoming depressing being an Ipswich fn now....it's a shame we have the players but the manager is so pig ignorant with bizarre team selections.

Mid table for us unless Mick pulls his finger out! Disgraceful what's going on atm an absolute joke! Sort it out Mick!

We all know what MM is like. Every team whoever they are, are in the wrong position. Every team we play have what is known as a forward motion. Ours is sideways, back, sideways back.
Can all players individually and collectively be in a slump at same time? if so why?
Can someone at Ewood Park, not a commentator, explain please

Terrible team selection that will only be able to play hoofball but that's all MM knows. Interesting listening to Mark Murphy earlier who sat next to Arnie M last week & Muhren it seems was far from impressed with what he saw. Not surprising because our football despite having some excellent players is from the Dark Ages. Get rid of Gerkin, Chambers, Douglas, Murphy ( who we should have cashed in on in the summer) and Hyam also. I would be very pleased to see MM down the road as well, never thought much of him either as a player or manager. He's done his job at Ipswich & been paid handsomely for it. Time to take a leaf out of the Budgies book & have the courage to make changes.
