Fraser Out for At Least Two Months With Knee Injury
Tuesday, 13th Oct 2015 15:21

Loan winger Ryan Fraser has been ruled out for at least the next two months due to a medial ligament injury suffered while on international duty with Scotland’s U21s, Town have revealed.

“Ryan was training on the Friday when he suffered a non-contact injury,” physio Matt Byard told the club site.

“He had a scan in Aberdeen and that showed a medial ligament problem. We took him to see a specialist in London yesterday and he has confirmed the injury.

“You can never be sure about timings with an injury like Ryan’s but I would expect him to be out for at least two months.”

The injury is a big blow for the Blues with the 21-year-old, who is on loan from AFC Bournemouth for the season, having been one of the most impressive performers in the opening months of the season.

Fraser has scored four goals in eight starts and three sub appearances and was named the Football League's Young Player of the Month for August when he was also amongst the nominees for the Championship Player of the Month gong.

The Scot's absence seems likely to give recently signed Australian international Tommy Oar a chance to establish himself in the Blues first team.

Maybe this is the time to go back to 4 centre backs, 5 centre midfielders, and Big Murph. Keep it tight and grind out the results like last season. Awful to watch, but better than losing regularly and trying to play the right way.

lets give tommy a chance, whos to say he wont be our player in the making, and he would be here next season where fraser wont be, to be honest I would rather play our players than build up other clubs players, look at what happened to derby and boro when Ibe and bamford went I think we rely on loan players in our league too much and to move forward we need to play our players.

Don't be quick to forget what Frazer has brought to the side, he has been one of if not the best player this season, it is a big loss for us.

Had that injury myself twice (both non contact) and it took me a good 6 months to shake it off..thankfully he's a lot younger than me and has a medical team to help him recover.

Big loss.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Ryan you will be missed, but this situation offers a great opportunity on the left wing for Tommy Oar to stake a claim for the shirt and show us what he is made of let's get back to winning ways saturday with a performance and team selection worth watching!!

A big loss but we have good cover in our squad, Orr will get a chance now to show what he can do.

Plus MM may change his tactics and may now be more incline to play 4-3-3 with 3 midfileders and three attackers (AMN/Pitmann/Didz/Murphs/Sears/Orr).

Not good news, our best player this season, apart from Sears maybe.

What is it with Bournemouth players and knee injuries this year.

When are we going to have some good news. More annoying the fact it was pointless scotland under 21s. Do hope Oar can fill his boots

Well it's not like this injury has left us up sh1t street without a paddle, as we've got an Oar to use now...

FFS, he's been a rare highlight in a very average start to the season

This is extremely bad news. With AMN just a youngster and inconsistent, we really could do with another option. Oar may be good enough, time will tell, but Tabby not in the same league as Fraser and shouldn't be considered if we are serious about promotion.

Massive blow I'm afraid, as already mentioned, Sears aside, unquestionably Fraser has been our most creative player. Opens the door to potentially playing 433, starting with McGoldrick. Every action provokes a reaction!!!!!

Best wishes for a quick recovery Ryan, you have probably been our most consistent player so far this season.
I think that Tommy Oar could now step up,based on the game and a bit that I have seen from him.

That's a massive blow!!
Has, along with Sears, been our main attacking option. Big chance for Oar now or possibly a change to 433?
Shame though as I liked the new system just think we had central midfield pairing wrong

Might force McCarthy's hand a little now. Big loss but you'd have to questions whether a change of system might be a blessing in disguise.

The 'at least' bit is spot on, will be a lot longer than that unfortunately. Even with a fit Fraser we're a mid table side. We are far too open with two wingers so agree that MM will probably revert to plan A again.
