Watching the match online?
at 10:11 12 Sep 2020

Hey guys, wondering if anyone can let me know the best way to watch the match online? I'm in New Zealand (but I've got a UK VPN so that's no problem if needed) and wondering what the best way to do this in 2020 is.

Last time I did this, it was all shoddy streams from illicit sites and whatnot. Would prefer to do it properly so that it actually works!

Cheers!

He was just trying to do his shopping, minding his own business, when I (an idiot) went ‘Oh bloody hell mate are you a Town fan, me too!’, before immediately leaving. Really should have asked about his favourite cheese..

I was so shocked to see a Town shirt on the other side of the world here in New Zealand I couldn’t formulate a sentence. I thought my brain was melting and tricking me into thinking I was in Tower Ramparts!

Anyone else down in New Zealand?

No, you're right, that's fair - he seems like a really nice guy, of course a great player.

It isn't personal and what I meant is that appointing someone of that ilk - someone who's stagnated before which is dressed up as experience, someone who will play 4-4-2 and make a sub on the 70th minute, someone who would trot out a cliche when we win or when we lose - just isn't right for us at the moment.

The club is stagnating - and if it isn't, it certainly feels like it is - and we need some blood and thunder to shake things up. With the greatest respect in the world, a 50 year old dude who's very likely already reached their pinnacle before is not the answer right now.

Completely agree. It would be great to take someone who was able to come in with fresh ideas and blow the cobwebs away. People are crying out for a change and I don't think they care in what direction, but Mowbray and anyone like that aren't an actual change, not in terms of direction.

They'd do the same thing as any bog-standard 50+ year old perennial middle-achievement manager would, we'll win some and lose some and no impetus will be injected anywhere, and in a couple of years they'll leave either as the club panics and we look like we might go down or they've just done nothing and their contract is up. It isn't personal; I don't mean that they don't want to win, I don't mean that they don't care. It's just that someone who views the club as a job that they've already earned the right to have because they've 'done it' in the Premier League before, or for whatever other reason, is just not the right person for us at the moment.

When Mick came in, he was able to light a fire under everyone's 'arris and explain that if we go down, their careers, their families, their livelihoods are on the line. Everyone pushed and pushed to remove that as an eventuality. When we reached the playoffs, there was belief and focus. But it isn't his fault that he can't inspire that now, because there's no enemy to focus on. We aren't going down, we were never in with a chance of going up, he's leaving. Leave the club in a better state than he found it, and move on.

For the record, I like Mick and I think he's done an excellent job, and when you look at his specific job description - keep us up at all costs, then have a go, then keep us ticking over - I don't think anyone would have done better, knowing the huge limitations he's had to deal with. He's been extremely professional and on the remit of leaving the club better than when he found it, there's no question he's done that. But that time is over now. It's time for a change, because the fans who pay their wages are sick of 'stability' at the expense of everything else. It's entertainment, not our boring dead-end day job. Just existing isn't going to cut it. And if we sleepwalk into a car crash like Sherwood or a corpse like Mowbray, we'll regret it.

I got a quote for something like £600 for the year, and I was like hell no that's too high. So I called to cancel it because I was going somewhere else who quoted me £350, and magically enough, there was a discount available on my account that took my amount to £350. Same thing happened with my phone contract. Funny how that works! Always worth calling about.

Not really anything to be "happy" about....
at 16:21 11 Jan 2018

Well, not quite equally, but yes I don't agree with that either. You can't even drink in view of the pitch, so why the hell would it be okay to advertise alcohol on shirts? However, I'm slightly less annoyed by it because at least they're a local company. Would it be different if Magical Vegas literally was Mannings at Felixstowe? It would still be sh!t, but at least it wouldn't be quite as sh!t.

Like I said, it's not keeping anyone up at night, but I think if you're going to sell out as blatantly as this, it had better get you success. Which I don't think this will. If not, you've sold out _and_ you've failed.

Haha don't get me wrong, it's not going to keep me up at night! I think if you're ever going to feel strongly about anything connected to your football club, this really should it. But you really don't think it's another nail in the coffin? Alright man. We disagree.

Yeah, I agree - I could probably understand us selling out for success - if we're getting millions and it's going to take us to the next level and push us forwards. But if this languishing is success then I'd sooner keep the club's.. integrity, I guess is the word.

I have no problem with us being stationary in the Championship (though I'd sooner we play nicer football while doing it), but I really wish it would be one or the other. Yes, I'd sooner see us relegated but entertaining than this plus our football style and being where we are.

I'm surprised at how much I'm annoyed by it, actually. I literally thought it was a joke when I saw how bad the shirt looked.

It's another spit in the face of us being a family-oriented club. It's yet another obvious, clear misstep by management that has no connection to the fanbase whatsoever. Evans waits 10 years, then goes with an industry - not necessarily a company - that's at best morally questionable. And beyond that, the logo just looks absolutely terrible on that shirt.

I don't care about 'the realities of modern football' or any other reasoning to justify it - I don't like any component of it, and I think this should be the threshold at which we say as fans that enough is enough.

Oh, a good bit of advice.. don't over-exercise them when they're young. Our first dog ended up like a brick sh!thouse! She's only a little springador (labrador/springer cross) but my god she was so strong. We thought it would tire her out, but it was a false economy because she got so strong and then needed to be exercised loads and loads. It's taken a while to make her a bit lazier!!

They won't pee and poop where they sleep, so the idea is that you confine them to a small area (enough space for them to turn around and that's it) so they won't do it overnight.

Any electricians in Ipswich?
at 11:37 30 Nov 2017

Hey guys - is anyone here or does anyone know a good electrician in the Ipswich area? I'm getting a summerhouse built (in the dead of winter!) for an office and I'll need to get electricity out there for heating etc.

I'm not sure on the different options of doing it, so I'm hoping to get on the phone with someone or get someone round to take a look and give me their advice on it and then get cracking with it pretty quickly. Weird time of year to be doing it, but we only moved here a couple of weeks ago and I'm already being kicked out of the spare room!

I think you'll find he campaigned for Corbyn, then thought that his polling meant he should go as leader to avoid an electoral beating, but then when Corbyn performed well, he decided to change back to his original position since he can see that they weren't looking at a trouncing.

And on the EU, I can't speak for him and I don't think I've heard his thoughts on it really, but I would also say I was anti-EU in that there are a whole lot of problems with it, but, I think Brexit is a terrible idea and I'd definitely sooner we stay in. Maybe he agrees with that.

You're right and I should have clarified really..

My experience was very fortunate when compared to lots of children whose parents divorce, absolutely.

But what I meant to highlight was how much more positive it was compared to children whose parents CAN'T divorce, but otherwise would.

Like I said earlier, if you're making the argument that people should build a stronger foundation _before_ they get married then I hear you, absolutely. I literally know people who have got together, got married, and got divorced in the time that my wife and I have been together, and we've only been married a year and a half (but been together 9 and a half)!
