Town Again Linked With Nugent
Town Again Linked With Nugent
Saturday, 30th Apr 2011 12:52

Town are reported to be among the clubs eyeing a summer move for Portsmouth striker David Nugent. The 25-year-old looks certain to leave Fratton Park when his contract is up at the end of June and has also been mentioned in connection with QPR, Blackpool and Bolton.

Nugent, who has scored eight goals in eight games against the Blues and has netted in every match he has played at Portman Road, was a frequent loan target of former Town boss Jim Magilton during his time in charge at Portman Road.

The former Bury and Preston striker, who scored on his only appearance for England against Andorra in 2007, has grabbed 13 goals this season, including the first as Pompey beat the Blues 2-0 at Portman Road in February after which he said he thrives on the booing he receives on his visits to Suffolk.

Well,
he has made it quite obvious over the years he had no intention coming here on loan, and quite frankly the money on offer here would not intrest this has been mercenary.
Best kept at arms length at let some one else have this benchwarming plonker.

Jewel has more chance of signing him than magic, a lot of pro's would want to play for jewell.
It would be what pompey deserve after trying to unsettle norris

If we got Bullard and Nugent that would be a amazing.. i just cant see us getting nugent, i remeber when magic was trying. Would be an ideal forward for us + a sharp or MS etc

Good idea Barhamblue. Our need for strikers is greater than for midfielders. However he passed up the chance to play us a few times!!

Can't see it happening if Premiership teams are involved (even soon-to-be ones) when it comes to Nugent.

Brahamblue

We'll get no money for Norris - he's out of contract.

As for Nugent.... well we might as well eye up Messi. He'll want premiership football and premiership wages even if it means sitting on the bench.

I was surprised too that he is still only 25, according to Wiki he'll be 26 in May. I won't hold out too much hope of getting him after last time, but it would be a big bonus to sign some decent free transfers. Keane spoke about signing free transfers last summer, but I don't recall getting any (I think we even paid a fee for Hourihane!).

The facts that he appears to hate Ipswich and has three premiership offers on the table doesn't put us off then ?

Sorry to be negative, but I just see another journeyman motivated by all the wrong things.

Start with our own youth please !!

This would be a disaster signing - how many more times does he have to tell this club he doesn't want to come here ? - for whatever reason.

NO THANK YOU, he had his chance several times, wasn't interested, he would rather sit on his backside warming a bench taking his money.

Lovetown added 18:05 - Apr 30
If QPR are fighting for him he will never come here, A team thats certain to go up in this season, or a club who's leading scorer has 12 goals, and is going no were fast? Um... What a hard decision?

Lightningboy added 18:11 - Apr 30
Well,it'll be one way of stopping him scoring against us.

Personally i've never been able to stick the arrogant
git,but i'm sure that could change if he starts banging the goals in in a town shirt.
