Striker Nathan Ellington hit a hat-trick, Ronan Murray a brace and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Caolan Lavery and Colin Healy one each as Town’s reserves came from behind to romp to an 8-1 victory over Gillingham at Playford Road this afternoon.

Defender Ívar Ingimarsson came through the whole 90 minutes after his thigh strain and is likely to come into contention for a place in the first team which takes on Coventry in a live Sky game at Portman Road on Monday.

Today’s match was played behind closed doors but where both clubs agree games will be open to the general public with details announced a couple of days beforehand.

Reserves: Lee-Barrett, Ainsley, Whight, Ingimarsson, Smith, Thorsteinsson, Peters, Healy, Priskin, Ellington (Lavery 77), Emmanuel-Thomas (Murray 65).

We know what Nathan is capable of, let's give him a good chance to prove it in the first team.

"LifeLongTownFan"- assuming you are an Ipswich fan rather than some sad NCFC troll- grow up and start acting like one.

Most fans have written Ellington off, so it would be great if he could surprise us all and score a few goals for the first team. It won't be easy though as it seems Scotland is ahead of him at the moment.

I am sorry, but how can anyone get excited about Ellington because he scores a hat-trick in the RESERVES. Four years of first team football and just 9 goals. Priskin has a better record! Ellington is a mate of PJ's. That's why he was signed.

Might only be the reserves, however, hitting the back of the net at any level will give you confidence which we curretly lacking at the moment!

Good result although I am still uneasy about the lack of a proper structure to reserve team fixtures. Also my ST gives free entry to reserve games but obviously not if they are behind closed doors.

If you want to look at a manager who signed his "mates", look at Roy Keane. He knew Fulop, Kennedy, Colback, Edwards, Leadbitter, C.Healy, Hourihane, Martin, D.Healy and Murphy all personally. That's TEN players he knew, whereas Jewell has only bought Bullard and Ellington who he managed before hasn't he?!

Ellington has scored 119 goals in English league football, he is still only 30 and was available on a free transfer with affordable wages, that's why we signed him.

Its good to get a positive result and to see not only ellington but also jet and murray score.Looking at the comments made on here I wonder if some of the players don't wanna play for such a moaning bunch of children, they wanna play for the team , they wanna play for the manager but so many of you so called supporters could find the negatives in promotion as champions. Please show the club some support during the difficult times or find something else to do you are boring the crap out of me.

No O'connor in the line-up!?

What the funk has happened on this one? This is beginning to mystify me as much as releasing David Wright last season, who incidentally is playing blinders for Palace as a defensive midfielder so my Palace mate's reckon.

Hyam? Drury?

We have a 'squad' of players currently at this Club, that is MORE than capable of just doing well in the Championship - problem is, we DO NOT have a Manager capable of extracting the best from that 'squad', in any way, shape, or indeed form.
