Charity Road Trip Diary Day One
Written by wadey on Monday, 20th Aug 2012 21:23

'Chris! Chris!' It was my mum waking me up. The time?? 4am.

Time for us to get up as we had a long day ahead.  It was time for our Charity Road Trip to begin. Dad was still snoring along with Becky my girlfriend.

He had kept us up all night sounding like a foghorn! I wanted to do a 'Kuqi Dive' on him to wake him up but was advised against it as he was sharing the driving duties.

So we left at 5am, just a stone's throw away from West Ham's Upton Park stadium. We got there in minutes. First photo done.

On to Dagenham & Redbridge's Victoria Road. Slightly smaller than West Ham but stadium number two was done.

We headed over the QE2 Bridge to Gillingham. Right out of the way this one. Lovely stand one side, and like a shed round the other.

Next up was Crawley Town. A nice little stadium for a team that only got in the league two seasons back.

Continuing onto Brighton. WOW! You see it from the motorway from a fair distance and it looks like a cross between the San Siro and a spaceship! Very impressed with the Amex.

Then we started the journey into Hampshire. Portsmouth was up first. Rubbish stadium is all I can say.

St Mary's was next. Very nice. Definitely worthy of being a Premier League stadium.

We headed up to Aldershot next. There's nothing to stop you from going on the pitch there. Although we didn't take the piss by doing that, we did go in an have a look around. Nothing special.

The Madejski Stadium is next on the list. Lovely ground.  On to Swindon and Bournemouth now. The Goldsands Stadium (formerly Dean Court) is very impressive. Lovely exterior.

We rounded off the day with Yeovil, Exeter, Torquay and Plymouth. Plymouth looks massive from the outside. Torquay is like a shed with a playing field, the same can be said for Exeter. Yeovil is poor apart from the main entrance which is all new.

It's dark now so have made the 122-mile trip towards Bristol from Plymouth so that we can have a good start in the morning.

We have done nearly 700 miles today and sets us up lovely for the week.
