Eating out in Birmingham 20:16 - Jan 25 with 1282 views | Vic | Vic Jr, student at Brum uni, has a birthday on Friday. Myself and Lady Vic are popping up to take him out for a spot of lunch but have no idea of any decent eateries up there. Any of you boys and girls on here got any suggestions? Preferably not your usual student place in Selly (!) but somewhere in the south west area would be helpful. Lucan, if you're about - you mentioned an Indian a few months ago. Eating out in Birmingham on 20:40 - Jan 25 with 1202 views | WeWereZombies | This is going to be of no use whatsoever but, when my ex-wife worked on the problem page of a well known women's magazine they were passed a letter from the crafts page with the message 'I think this one is for your department'. The letter read 'Where can I get felt in Birmingham?'

Eating out in Birmingham on 20:41 - Jan 25 with 1201 views | connorscontract | Depends on how posh you want to go, but... Two of the Michelin Star Restaurants in Birmingham are very near the University. http://www.simpsonsrestaurant.co.uk Simpson's is exceptional Modern Classical. Beautiful refined surroundings, gliding continental staff. Sophisticated. Located between The Vale and Five Ways. http://www.turnersat69.co.uk/new/ Turner's is small (might not have space for this Friday, but the chef is in the volatile genius category. He has just had a change of strategy to make the restaurant more accessible price-wise, and retained his Star doing it. 2 courses £18.50 at Lunch, 3 for £25. Harborne High Street. City Centre (easily trainable from Selly, University or Five Ways): http://www.annexe.co (yes, .co not .com) French bistro type restaurant. Lovely food, excellent value wine. My go-to restaurant in Brum for mixed age family groups (went with all the In-laws for my Mother-in-Law's 70th). http://www.lasan.co.uk I haven't been but it has an excellent reputation. Modern Indian.

Cheers CC - yep, I knew about the Michelin starred places, but they're out of my price range, unless for a special occasion (a very special occasion!). Looking at these I do like the look of the French bistro one. Will defo put that into the mix as one to look at before they have to close after Brexit ;)

This, ghis, this and this. The place is out of the planet. Get a taxi though. Sorry to down one of the previous posters but Brindley Place????? You could be in any town or city in the country eating the franchised stuff going on there. Get some New Soho Tavern action into you. Solid as a rock advice.
