Yer, must be so hard seeing Kenlock and Emmanuel become first team regulars, as well as having Dozzell on the cusp of the first team. Not to include that Nydam would have been involved (by Micks own admission) if he wasn't injured for the last few games, and Downes making the matchday squad and then bench for the last few games.

Was talking more about the style that Klug instills in the young lads that is probably coached out of them as soon as they get anywhere near Micks teams. Besides is that the same Kenlock that wouldn't be in the first team if Knudsen hadn't got injured, or Emmanual who is currently behind Spence. Or Dozzell who it is deemed that its not been the right time to play him this season. Or maybe its all those subs Mick made in the home cup game against Lincoln, when he brought on the younger lads instead of not making a single sub because they are deemed not ready, yet were deemed worthy enough to be on the bench. Mick doesn't do youth unless its forced upon him, why cant people see that?!?

Kenlock was in the first team way before Kenlock got injured. Emmanual has been rotated with Spence since he arrived. Dozzell is still powderpuff at the moment. Needs to bulk up a bit (a lot.) Think Joe or Steve made the point that Micks done a pretty good job in slowly bringing the kids through this season without putting too much on them. [Post edited 18 May 2017 13:59]

Because he has played the youths a decent amount this year - Kenlock, Emmanuel and Dozzell have started nearly 40 games between them this year. That isn't all to do with injury and to say so cheapens any point you make. The step up from the academy to the first team is vast, but it's like that at every club - but look around the division, which teams are giving their youngsters much game time? If the academy isn't producing players good enough for our first team then it isn't doing it's job, that's the long and short of it.

First team regulars. Knudsen will be first choice at left back this season and Spence/Chambers dominated the right back positions. McCarthy trusts none of the players you have listed above. Probably for the reasons that Osman describes.

Kenlock had got ahead of Knudsen in the pecking order before his injury Spence is frankly much better than Emmanuel, Emmanuel isn't that good at all in my view Dozzell struggled when he started But they are all fully fledged members of first team squad now and have broken through

Well said Mr Osman on 14:01 - May 18 with 1819 views | christiand | A few on here have being saying this for a while. For all the good football that is encouraged by the coaches of the academy sides, it seems completely pointless when the first team play a style that is completely alien to what they have been brought up on. That's not going to change as long as MM remains, so another season of this long ball crap then, while the youth sides play passing football on the grass.

I was replying to the term "first team regulars" rather than the first team squad. McCarthy puts all sorts of youngsters on the bench and then trots out the excuse "it wasn't the right game for then". No, it wasn't the right game because it was a game involving Ipswich!

BANG ON - take Kenlock, take Huddersfield on 14:08 - May 18 with 1776 views | unstableblue | We all know we play terrible football and have done for 18months; the players are not set-up correctly to find space and to move when not on the ball; they are not being coached to be comfortable on the ball and cool under pressure. Our academy are as demonstrated by Kenlock and Emmanuel, they always try to look for the pass. I fear they will have this drilled out of them. Huddersfield were a much weaker side on paper that Sheff Weds last night, but they new their roles, they were confident in position and they did not give the ball away cheaply. New manager essential

Not just 18 months. Mick always plays terrible football it was just effective early on. Look back at opposition fans and manager comments.

Spot on! MM has got no idea how to play that way. After all he never played that way himself during his playing career. He needs to go so the club can progress, but alas we'll still have that boring, negative approach to games because he is unwilling to change his approach. What club has all its junior sides playing one way and the first team play completely differently?

MM got away with it when being reasonably successful but even then many of our own fans were less than happy. Once we started to struggle our style of play was inevitably going to become a major issue!
