Unless we sign an experienced quality CB we're fkd this season. on 13:51 - Aug 2 with 2375 views | chambosleftboot | Disagree. A typical Mick team will defend as a unit anyway, doesn't tend to rely on quality. What a typical Mick team can't do is score lots of goals out of nothing and getting a striker who can occasionally do that would make a massive difference.

The reason we don't score lots of goals is because McCarthy plays it safe by getting the offensive players to sit too deep in order to compensate for a sub standard defence and defensive midfield who can't defend adequately and can't distribute the ball properly. We don't defend properly as a unit, with players out of position and passively staring at the ball, standing off and then allowing crosses to come in. Basically, the basics are not being carried out and that is down to McCarthy.

Yep = at least 5 in a form of defence with the likes of Freddie S expected to fetch & carry if MM decides to go to 7 at the back and play the game in Town's half of the field.
Unless we sign an experienced quality CB we're fkd this season. on 15:38 - Aug 2 with 2159 views | feelingblue | Almost agree, but I think that we need 2 decent CBs, and an RB, unless Iorfa is a lot better than someone who Wolves don't want should be.

Bearing in mind that Chambers is nailed on then MM must play webster and Iorfa in 352. Chambers plays best in central position and with two very mobile players we may have a chance. Iorfa looks very useful but would probably benefit from an experienced CB as would Webster. I was hoping that Taylor would have stayed so agree that someone like him would be good. Not sure Tommy Smith is good enough although Chris Smith maybe. It may take a time to gel but it could be worth in long run.

In a 4 Chambers is not Championship standard, never was. In a 3/5 he is fine.
