Forget new players 16:58 - Jul 9 with 1938 viewsCaptainObvious

The highest priorities are Bart signing a new contract and offering Waghorn an improved deal. Evans needs to pull his finger out and get this done. We have some potentially good players, and we will sign players who may turn out to be good players but at this point in time, we only have 2 good players and if they both go, we are in big trouble.

But if he won't sign a new contract, we have to sell now.

In Jan, he can speak to other clubs and leave for free next summer.

He's had long enough to sign a new contract.

"He's had long enough to sign a new contract."

The question is why didn't he sign, did he know MM was on his way out?

I partly agree with your fist line

Why do we have to sell him now? If he leaves for free next summer we will have had him for an extra season.

Why he hasn't signed is now, largely, irrelevant.

The fact remains, he's getting close to the point where he can leave on a free. The closer it gets to January the lower his value will be.

Agree. Far rather have the use of his services than a relatively small amount of money (in the context of the Championship at the moment).

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

With the figures quoted, surely it’s cheaper to keep them than replace them?

But, if Town get this season out of him & he performs as well as hae has over the last 2/3 season that would be better than letting him go now with no suitable replacement lined up
His value may be what Town would pay for a worse GK and still need to sign a new one.

Bird in the hand etc.

Great keeper, but not irreplaceable.
Made some fantastic saves but there are areas of his game that are lacking.
Don't understand people getting so het up about cashing in on a player who won't commit.

Quite agree. He made wonderful saves and good handling but his kicking and distribution are nothing special.

I don't understand why we wouldn't cash in for say £3m + . It's a no brainer with so many keepers out there to choose from that would cost us very little. Wages would be the same or maybe more if a really good one came in (say ex Prem that's tired of bench warming)

He has us over a barrel I am afraid. Nothing we can do about it, he can turn down any move and just wait till Jan as you rightly say.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
