It was Germany, Sir Bobby was manager and Lineker and Gascoigne were on form. Argentina were very beatable and we would've won it. Even Euro 96 was more galling than this. At this world cup the further we got was a bonus and I'd rather lose to Croatia than get torn apart from the French. Great effort, unexpected, and the future is bright. | | | |

Don't mistake hope for hype.
I hoped we'd get into the last 16, perhaps even into the quarter finals. We were hyped far beyond that.

It does happen....all the FA cup matches in 78 were an experience from fighting Taffs in round 3 to the ice rink at Bristol...Highbury 3-1 was a day I won't forget....we were there.
Plus UEFA in the early 80's and another star..
We should of won a couple more titles...but hey.
