Accrington Chairman/ Jackson 11:57 - Aug 3 with 1902 viewsNick_Blue11

So Stanley rejected 1.5/ 1.75 million for a player in the last year of his deal when they will get half in January and nothing in the summer. Chairman says someone is going to pay his valuation but when?!

They get about 1.3 mil in payments regardless of where the finish in League 1 so keeping him to try and push on is fairly irrelevant and TV money is almost no existent unless your Sunderland in League 1 this year.

I don't understand how this makes any financial sense for them.... just holding back a promising player for the sake of appeasing a fan base?

I'd imagine they are hoping to attract other clubs to make an offer, but it's still an offer AS really shouldn't turn down.

They also have an option on his contract for another year, so effectively have two more transfer windows after this one to sell him for a good fee.

Can only assume other clubs are interested and Chairman believes he can create a bidding war.

He's just trying to instigate a bidding war. He knows who else is interested. If it doesn't work out he'll accept the highest bidder from any club still after him blaming it on the player wanting to leave.
