Having just come back from the game. Great, as ever, to see people.

That was a pretty thunderous first half of football. It would not be unreasonable to say we dominated. However, it would have been even better had we been able to convert one or two more of the chances created. Reading were beginning to wilt and they might not have been able to come back from it.

Reading evidently had a boot up them at HT and, as Harry pointed out, a tactical change. Also, we began to run out of steam somewhat.

We let ourselves get under more pressure than we ought. Also, our attacking spells began to break down, reverting to long balls too often - which wasn't really working. There was a momentary lapse for Reading's second.

Town didn't stop attacking, but it was becoming less and less effective. Jackson worked hard but was not as much of a nuisance as Roberts. Rowe as a CF was interesting, but he didn't have Sears' sharpness or (odd as this may sound) confidence.

Overall, the cohesion and mutual awareness of the team was so far improved as not to be in the same universe as what we were seeing a few weeks ago. Consistent selection obviously helped.

We did score two goals which did not (directly) come from set pieces. So it can be done, by this squad.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

If only Walters was fit. If we'd have had him to run the back four second half and hold the ball up, we'd be looking at 3 points. Anyone know the latest on his injury?

Thought he was pretty much guaranteed out for the rest of the season.

It's been a really good day, spoilt only by the fact we didn't win.

We sat back too much from 70 minutes or so, yet we really weren't threatened until Spence and Bart combined to give them that soft corner. Ah, ballacks....

The difference Lambert has made in two weeks is immense, had he had this squad all season then we would stay up comfortably, as it is were might just be too far behind.

Disagree when you say it might be too late.

With 29 games to go and being 5 points adrift.. it’s all to play for.

What formation did we play - seen a lot say Sears was CF.

Radio stated we were 433 with Sears and Edwards wide? Interested to hear from someone that was at the game.

It might be but I'm going into every game desperately wanting us to win. That's ask wet can do but I do fear too much damage has been done.

4-3-3 and it really suited Sears

Good to see you today. Yes, despite inviting pressure upon ourselves, the defending was generally not bad, in that tackles and clearances were made (albeit with the latter it inevitably fell to a Reading player, having none of our own remaining upfield). There was organisation and communication. Chambers was issuing instructions all game.

Edit: I also still think it is far from too late. There is plenty of time to turn this around.

Front three, but I'm not sure player positions within that were fixed. They seemed to be popping up left, right or central on different occasions as opportunities presented themselves.

Naturally, it’s not mathematically impossible to survive, but when you think 5 points is two wins -by and large - we’ve won one game in our first 17 games it’s difficult to accept we can stay up. There’s no doubt, PL has made a huge difference to our squad in the last fortnight and that’s what I’m hanging my hat on. If we could just get Huws and Bishop back fit and firing this could help massively. Some tough games on the horizon, but I’ve got everything crossed that we surprise a few sides and pick up some unexpected victories after the international break which we desperately need.
