I went to Auschwitz one Easter. It was one of the grimmest days of my life. I know there's a lot of debate around Antisemitism and point scoring on here, but it's important to remember not just the persecution of Jewish people, but so many groups in society that hasn't always gone away.
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. Together, we must learn from genocide, challenge prejudice and create a better future.
Ive been to many of the camps in Poland and the stories make you cry. One story in particular where the German guards caught a small boy stealing food and they took him out and played football using his head as the ball almost until he died. They didn't kill him but deliberately left him in that nearly dead state in unknown pain until he eventually died a couple of days later has remained with me since.
Unfortunately we still live in a world where it still exists.
