How did he play today?

Poll: Would Lambert have acheived better results than Cook if given the same resources

v sharp, his movement of the shoulder of their defenders into the space in behind was constant threat, he needs some fine tuning, but his pace is electric and his runs are smart so its a good recipe to begin with, finishing needs a bit of work though.

Poll: Would love to know the opinions on here now of Lambert genuinely?

Probably his best game in a Town shirt - harried and hustled their back 4 and made himself a couple of decent chances

Looks like a confidence player so hopefully gets a run in the team between now and the end of the season

Needs a lucky break in front of goal as well.

Looked quite dangerous in the highlights, maybe needs a bit quicker decision making.

Would like to see him played more.

In short, excellent. Changed the game for us. His running in behind, into the channels and across the line pushed them back and created the space for Teddy, Nolan and Judge (quiet today) to play in. Put himself about too, worked hard to close down and constantly marshalling the front 3 to press. He was everything Quaner wasn’t (waste of a shirt today).

Couple of times he should have got his head up for a pull back instead of a shot from a tight angle, but you can’t really blame him for having a go.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

The part about him running behind to create space for Teddy/Nolan/Judge is v accurate assessment.

When he stretched their back line, as the defenders dropped the gap between their midfielders and defender became larger. The space for Bishop/Judge/Nolan was just exactly what they wanted and exploited.

It was actually a really tactical shrewd move from the Scottish Simeone.

Yep. And critically he wanted it enough to get to those balls in behind and in the channels, and then bringing the others into it allowing us to push up and press. We didn’t really see that willingness from Quaner. I thought he was complete pony actually- you’d think he was the lower league player, not someone from a PL club.

Agreed, Quaner won't be here next season and it looked like he knew it. However, the problem with Jackson is he needs to take his chances. He's great at all the things mentioned above - but strikers need to strike. We badly badly need a reliable goalscorer next season. None of the current lot are good enough IMHO.

There is that! He's not prolific and never has been. As a pest that can bring others into the game he's worth a spot, as long as some of those others are prolific, but obviously we're acking there as well. So yeah, someone has to start stepping up an scoring some goals or next season will be hard work too.
