The wall rule is very interesting.
Although they are there to disrupt the effectiveness of the wall, effectively they are also being marked. By making attackers stand 1m from wall makes more problems for the defending team, potentially +2 attackers than defenders. |  |

"A player who is being substituted must leave the field by the nearest point on the touchline/goal line (unless the referee indicates the player can leave quickly/ immediately at the halfway line or a different point because of safety, injury etc.)"

Only guidance but there is nothing in the laws to tell how much time a referee should add on. Last season we saw referees adding on an extra minute for injury time substitutions or not bothering at all which doesn't stop the time wasting.

It doesn't say what sanction there is for failing to comply with that. I wonder if we will see players booked for choosing to take the long way off the pitch instead of the short way. | |
