Norris needs to be dropped and never play for us again (n/t) on 17:09 - Jan 1 by pointofblue | I'm not sure, Wheeler was under a lot of pressure when the ball came down from our defence. All he could do was toe poke it; from memory if Norris stayed back he should have caught it with ease. |
The fact he's got the touch off without someone wiping out the chance is still a big issue. It had all the hallmarks of players not comfortable with their roles or each other. This isn't saying Norris got it right, by the by, just that the whole lot were rotten and we got punished.

But you're missing the point entirely. The line may have been disorganised but the goal would never have happened had Norris remained on his line. Straight line or zig-zag line, the goal is on Norris, no-one else.

No I get that, but as with the Walker goal at Lincoln he's dithered then dashed out because the defenders haven't done their part. My point is less that Norris wasn't at fault again, cos he was, more that he's damned either way in a team so fragile as this. If he stays on his line the striker isn't taking that shot either, so he's going to go past and then as h's through Norris will have to come out to feet or stand tall anyway. It was a clusterfcuk from all concerned and shows that they don't trust each other. I can't believe how bad Norris is, he looked so much better at Wolves, and given that Holy was clearly improving from the moment he got here, you have to ask why Jimmy Walker's coaching isn't having the same effect here.

What do you mean he looked much better at Wolves? He's played 2 league games for them in 4 years? His reputation dates back to his Cambridge days, but he's a poor modern-day style keeper for me.

As in he looked like a keeper who needed a loan to fulfil his potential and show his ability. Unless I've got the wrong bloke I'm sure he was on TV saving a penalty for them in the cup etc. and generally looking like he'd be able to cut it at this level. I'm not sure anyone is suggesting he's doing the business for us this season or Holy is benefiting from sitting there watching that again today. As I said after Lincoln TH's face was a picture after one of the goals in the dugout.
