Record goal scorers by decade? 15:05 - Jan 15 with 1402 viewspete81

Thought about this recently with the end of a decade stuff...a quick search and no answers..at a guess :-

50's - Garneys?
60's - Crawford?
70's - Whymark?
80's - Dozzell?
90's - Kiwomya?
00's - Counago?
10's - Murphy?
Any one any insight on this or am I spending to much time at work day dreaming!?

90's I'd suggest David Johnson

And perhaps Kevin Wilson for the 80s

I would've said John Wark for the 80's.

Counago is correct i think, which considering he was 'lazy' and 'spent most of the time on the floor' is an amazing achievement.

Not sure on Dozzell in the 80s though, thought he didn't get that many until he moved further foward under Lyall in the 90s?

I would think the likes of Mariner, Wark, Brazil and Gates would be ahead of Wilson or Dozzell.

10’s is probably Murphy but Leon Best might be an outside bet

Between 70 and 79 Whymark scored EDIT 104 (75 was only in the league) goals for us.

Mariner scored EDIT 135 (96 were only in the league) for us with at least 62 (league only) of them coming 1980 or later (likely to be more depending on the split in the 79/80 season). Therefore Whymark is certainly ahead of Mariner for the 70s.

not many to think about in the 90's. I know D Johnson scored loads but was only really the last few years of the decade 97 onward, where as Kiwomya was 1990 till 95 but not as prolific each season....only Marshall and Mathie in the middle but not close surely to Johnson or Kiwomya....

Counago is a surprise, but given that the club completely changed over the course of the decade, there would be very few who were there for all of it and he managed most of it in 2 spells.
Its only people like Fabian that I can think of who actually stayed for longer in that time.
