But if not restarting the season it is feasible that it could still be ongoing after 30th June especially regarding playoffs so the out of contract question might crop up.
Imagine a team winning a playoff final on 1st July and then getting it overturned because they used a player who was out of contract the day before. |  | | |

Being out of contract wouldn't be a problem, lots of players down the pyramid play "out of contract".
As long as you're a registered player, for the club, with the relevant football association (and international clearance, where relevant) you're fine.

The contract situation will matter more over whether the player would agree to play or the parent club would allow loanees too. I think there have been situations where loans have finished prior to play-offs in the past. As for player registrations, the leagues would have to be clear about whether the registration is for the complete season or until a set date. They could adjust the latter if reasonable too.
If this season were to be completed but much later than May, how that would impact the dates of next season and the transfer windows would have to be made clear too. |  |
