Italy will overtake China tomorrow in deaths 00:49 - Mar 19 with 4378 viewsStokieBlue

Horrible for the Italians, 475 more deaths today so given the progression they will overtake China tomorrow (assuming you believe the Chinese numbers).

Really horrible situation over there. The perfect storm of widespread infections and multi-generational homes.

Shows what a virus like this can do to even a modern and developed country and why the advice given needs to be taken seriously given Italy has been in lockdown for 10 days now and the infections are still going up every day.

I am fine, I replied to your post fairly - you were the one who didn't read my post properly and dismissed it.

"If that were the case why have different areas of the same country eg Italy experienced drastically different rates of infection, would suggest it’s not down to that."

I am not really sure what to say, you seem intent on dismissing everything. The reason a country like Italy hasn't experienced a blanket level of infection is because viruses move out in waves as the vectors meet new people to infect. Southern Italy is getting worse and they are expecting it to get much worse.

I think you need to go do some reading before pointing fingers at other people and telling them to chill out as you don't seem to grasp some of the concepts here.

We will have to agree to disagree then, but I would say accusing someone of dismissing their post, that their dismissing everything and that they have no grasp on the concept as not really a polite reply, just come across as a keyboard warrior expert.

Let face it we won’t have an explaination as to why Italy has been hit like this for weeks, months or even years.

The only Muff in Town.

Another awful day in Italy, 793 deaths :(.

That's 12 days in lockdown now and still a steep upward curve although seems a very large number of people are ignoring the lockdown.

i wasn't going to read the news but caught the story.

Significantly 546 in Lombardy, so I would guess people there are losing their lives because the system is overwhelmed.

It also means there are 'only' 247 in the rest of Italy, so the key is stopping a cluster getting out of control. London could be our Lombardy. London should already be locked down.

Lombardy doesn't seem to be that locked down though - reports saying up to 40% of people are ignoring the lockdown there.

You're right that it's not affecting the rest of the country yet in the same way but that could be a delay - plenty of people would have left the north 12 days ago and with the lag we need to wait a bit longer to see.

It's made me think that maybe we shouldn't be taking much notice of country stats, we should concentrate on outbreak areas. If Lombardy was in Slovenia, for example, suddenly Italy would be perceived to be "a week behind Slovenia" when examining the country curves.

Quite. Whilst here, the biggest short term problem appears to be in the London & Shetland region.

Agreed.

Assuming you believe the Chinese numbers, they are on a huge propaganda drive at the moment to try and get the people back onside.

Only a multiple of 7?

Although 7 times allegedly 0 is still 0 .

Lombardy Doctors saying anyone in a care home or in their own home who die aren’t tested for Covid19, so the number today could be in 4 figures
