According to the BBC:

It is understood the wage subsidy will apply to firms where bosses have already had to lay off workers due to the pandemic, as long as they are brought back into the workforce and instead granted a leave of absence.

So...Gov covering wages up to £2.5k only applies if you've already laid people off?

Of course it is.


It isn’t clear but what happens if you can’t work due to having to look after kids, work won’t pay dependency for long and if you can’t work from home but can’t go to work then what happens then ? Just universal credit isn’t going to cover much.
