So...Gov covering wages....not as far reaching as promised? 11:44 - Mar 21 with 588 viewshomer_123

According to the BBC:

It is understood the wage subsidy will apply to firms where bosses have already had to lay off workers due to the pandemic, as long as they are brought back into the workforce and instead granted a leave of absence.

So...Gov covering wages up to £2.5k only applies if you've already laid people off?

Isn't it as well as firms that have had to lay people off?

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

It isn’t clear but what happens if you can’t work due to having to look after kids, work won’t pay dependency for long and if you can’t work from home but can’t go to work then what happens then ? Just universal credit isn’t going to cover much.

Not sure if it applies to businesses that don't need to lay people off immediately?

And the first response to Jeremy Vine's tweet is very sobering:

Can see why some are arguing that Universal Basic Income would of been a much fairer way to have gone about this.
