Public service announcement for the Twtd 'new to cycling' massive 09:22 - May 11 with 2333 viewsbluelagos

Ahead of Wednesday's 'Cycle as many times as you want' rules...

I tried a pair of those bibs yesterday. They hold you tight and go over your shoulders thus avoiding showing off bum cleavage. But be super careful if you buy some cos if you get a pair too small, your b0ll0cks will end up closer to your shoulders than nature intended.

I now understand why so many bikers walk bow legged. I always thought it was cos of heavy legs. It isn't.

How much does that cost?

Given I am hoping to do LeJog in September - long fcking way with a sore arse!

Divide the cost by the number of miles. That would be my advice.

I have seen bike fittings in the range of 80 to 150, depending on what they asses, e.g. using video and power meters to analyse peddling technique.

An alternative is to get a Free! fitting with a new very expensive bike.

Good advice, when I get that problem, I get into a higher gear and just stand on the pedals for a couple of minutes, stretch my legs and give my bum a rest - ideally done on a flattish, straight bit of road so you're not working your quads too much or worrying about corners....

Just biked to Rendlesham and back today, I’m not a big biker normally just thought it would be nice ride. The cold head wind and hills through Woodbridge I can honestly say have now killed me, I ache every where. It was a very nice ride though.

Well done. Was tough out today. Was out earlier and it was very windy. Got caught be a couple of cross winds and literally moved close to a meter across the road.

I paid £80 for the fit and then bought some new items - they do use it as opportunity to upsell. My £80 covered position on the bike, saddle fit, cleat positioning etc. There is a more expensive one where they go through everything with you but unless you plan to start doing Crits this seemed a bit excessive.

It was worth it, solved my hand numbness by undoing the tweaks I had made to try and fix it and going in the opposite direction to what I thought - I had been bringing my position in to release pressure from the hands but they angled the hoods down and added a longer stem. Has worked so far.
