Just received a missive from the FA- following the science?! 13:21 - Jul 18 with 3494 views | sparks | Apparently "grass roots football" can now do competitive training, with competitive games from August (just 2 weeks away...) Safeguards in place? Have to do a risk assessment (so clubs and coaches can be blamed if it goes wrong- how amateurs do such a risk assessment properly without scientific input is beyond me). Sanitise hands, clean balls disinfected during breaks in play. What on earth is the point? Football is a close contact sport and you are far more likely to be infected when someone out of breath pants all over you during a tussle, than by touching a ball which might have touched someone elses hand. It seems the Boris approach rules- regardless of what the chief medicla officers say. I am extremely wary of this as a club chairman.

This little delight: http://www.thefa.com/-/media/thefacom-new/files/get-involved/2020/covid-19-risk- What on earth social media has to do with Covid and football is beyond me and it implies that we’re supposed to ‘train’ coaches in self-screen checks but have no qualifications or materials to do so. We have not been directed to that by Somerset FA. Though we have done our own. Looks ridiculous. The FA are masters at making something which should be easy, take forever. Those safeguarding videos are an hour or my life I will never get back.

That’s interesting. We did our own risk assessment against the original ‘bubble’ guidance but this just looks like a Trojan horse for a whole set of unrelated and uncommunicated compliance activity.

I detest the FA. Some of the crap one has to sit through and waste time on, for the privilege of giving up significant amounts of your time to help local kids play football, only to be treated by the FA as if your were a full time professional. This is an organisation that fines volunteers for not attending meetings when a close relative has been taken to hospital in a critical condition. Hate the self agrandising, jobsworthing, patronising, facile lot of them.

I can only assume that's an issue with your local FA as I've found all Suffolk FA workshop's I've attended in the past to be on point. A lot of the training they give is stuff I've already received in my professional life, but it's delivered clearly, concisely and they hit the important notes really well. Nothing but praise for them tbh.

Spot on. I simply despise them. They haven’t a clue.
