Let’s be honest 13:35 - Sep 3 with 2923 views | SitfcB | It would be a proper weird time to sack him and I for one hope it doesn’t happen now. However, a fast and good start required Mr Lambert.... [Post edited 3 Sep 2020 13:35]

Straw man alert on 15:26 - Sep 3 by Dyland | No one has said that. Of course Evans is culpable. That doesn't mean we should stick with Lambert. He doesn't know how to manage our squad. And it's largely his squad. |
I've not said we should stick with Lambert - I have merely pointed out that both he and Evans thought he would need five years which would suggest a reflection of how bad things had become so he will not go, and were he to those deep problems will not go with him fans need to stop deluding themselves that all that is wrong is the manager

I think people over-estimate the extent to which football produces problems that are unfixable quagmires beyond the abilities of a competent managerial staff. The club is financially stable with ample economic resources for the task immediately in front of us (exiting League One). It has a functioning academy that continues to produce first team players. Everything else - the playing staff, their quality, attitude and conditioning, coaching and match day tactics - is well within the purview of the manager and his assistants.

Not sure most are that naive. However Lambert departing will make a bigger (and more vital) immediate difference, imo. And we could have a different owner, yet Lambert would still be rubbish at picking and setting up the team. In the immediate term at least. I get your point though and as I say, Evans is absolutely culpable. But a club doesn't fire the owner. It can't.

Given the shambolic way we're moving into it, I'd say that's already happened.
