Still doesn't seem real does it. I remember exactly where I was when it happened. |
We were flying to Italy at the time. When we got to the hotel it was on the tv. I asked the man what he was watching, thinking it was a film. He said "America is under attack". I went and sat with my Wife and said the man was watching a film called America is under attack. We went to our room and I put the tv on and realised it wasn't a film, but real life. Such a surreal moment. Amazing bravery by so many that day and the days after. I have watched many programmes on it since and still cannot believe what happened. Those poor people and their families. My heart will forever go out to them. |  | | |

It was one of the few occasions when the TWTD Message board just broke. The server must have got overloaded with people trying to log on and make sense of what had happened.
My wife and I are currently working our way through the Amazon Prime series ‘Bones’ as she has read all the Kathy Reichs books and each episode is a fairly undemanding way to spend 45 minutes but entertaining nonetheless. By coincidence the episode we watched last night was about a homeless military veteran who had died as a result of the attacks but whose whole story wasn’t known at the time of his death. It was quite a powerful episode and strange that we got to it on September 10th, made us both think about the event and how it has changed the world. |  | | |

I was on this forum, which is where I first heard the news. I think we were all in complete shock. I turned on the TV but couldn't continue watching.
I remember you saying afterwards Guthers, that the most likely perpetrator/s was something called Al Qaeda led by someone called Osama bin Laden. Until then I had never heard of him, nor I think had many others.

I went to a day service in the afternoon to collect some people who lived together in a residential home. The telly was on in the hall and I honestly thought they were watching a movie. Took me a while to twig that it was actually the news.
