Was it not Skuse's injury that forced him to play Dozzell in the deeper role. If it was, we've been very lucky on the injury front already. |  | | |

He's absolutely instrumental to how we play at the moment and represents everything that we lacked last season. Moves the ball quickly, gives the defence and keeper an out ball, looks after it, can create in advanced areas.
We would look nothing close to the same team without him in it. |  |

It's almost the same with anyone who has a decent season, realsitically under the salary cap the deals we offer these players are going to be around £2-3k a week in League 1, even if they have a big rise on promotion why would anyone sign it when they will be able to get 3 times that in the league above if they have a good season?
I think there is a dispensation in the salary cap for U24s where the full increase doesn't go against SC, but not sure exact details.
Realistically though - the following players won't be signing new deals, if they continue with current form until promotion is guaranteed:
Teddy Bishop
Andre Dozzell
Gwion Edwards
Theya re big assets if they stay fit, who awill be worth nothing if we don't get promoted, bar maybe a tribunal for Andre |  |

Aye. It is very galling isn't it.
As Thingers kept on saying last season, it was sooo important to go straight back up. But THIS season really is it now. And even if we do run away with it (yeh right), still no guarantee we will keep our better players.
What you know WILL happen, because of the CURSE, is that we will stomp away with the league with all the ITFC academy products playing better and better, but then the season will be cancelled but with different criteria and no promotion or relegation.
That would be the Ipswich way ;) | |
