Anyone else starting to fall out of love with football? 22:08 - Nov 3 with 4827 views | Pippin1970 | Maybe its the whole lockdown situation as well. Its the not same anymore unfortunately. I should be upbeat being a mental health worker too.

I miss terribly going to away games here in the North. I occasionally watch the ERFL coverage on Quest when I remember when it's on. I haven't watched Football Focus for years, and MOTD for a couple of seasons now - really not interested, it's a billionaire circus and very little English about it now. However, there is light - for those falling out of love, try non league, I have the past couple of seasons. Gets a re-connect to the game although some of the fans are...well, to put it politely, rough and unnecessarily abusive. You really notice them in a crowd of 200.

Just turned the Champions League game on and a Rennes Defender had a penalty given against him for accidental handball and received a red card also. Feckin joke. I,ve turned it off again. Not fallen out of love with Town though, despite all the crap endured for years. As Funge alluded too, my generation saw us go toe to toe with the best in the land and Europe, so many wonderful memories. |
Being an Ipswich Town and Stade Rennais former season ticket holder, this hasn't been a good couple of days for referee's performances in big matches...dubious penalties and sendings off for both of my teams. [Post edited 5 Nov 2020 9:24]

A cup has been devalued, l used love the build up to the final as a kid. 3 pm kick off etc. It's all gone now. As for Town, it's been a slow ebb since Keane. Evans hasn't covered himself in glory, yes, he may have kept us afloat, but the man is clearly inept at running a football club. We had a brief glimmer of hope under Mick, but that all went South. So, lve not got the drive for it that l did have, plus l can't bare to look at us in what is really division 3, its so soul destroying.

Used to love the European games , our teams of home grown players up against different style of players in European teams . Now all our teams are full of foreign players so don't think of them as British teams . Likewise Premiership is full of overpriced players who dive and cheat and rules that make it a stop start game to watch with over excited commentators . Much prefer watching my local team , whether it's ITFC or local non league team .

Anyone else starting to fall out of love with football? on 12:33 - Nov 5 with 529 views | carlisleaway | Have to agree with you to a certain extinct, still love Ipswich and get upset when we lose or play badly which seems to happen a lot over the past few years. As for football in general I cannot be bothered to watch other teams, but as in all leagues teams are frightened to let a goal in and defend heavily.....in other words all we see is pretty passing across the back 4 to the midfield and back. We do not know how to take a game to the opposition and put them under pressure, clubs must love playing us. Years ago we had attacking wingers who would take the full backs on and get in a cross for 2 centre forwards to attack....remember Clive Woods, Joe Broadfoot, Jimmy Robertson then the game changed through the fantastic Robson years when we had attacking midfield player....the list is endless. Move onto the times under Keane, Paul Jewell, Mick McCarthy, Paul Hurst and lastly Paul Lambert. All managers who were quite content on 1 point but never getting us off our seats with attacking flair. We must be up there as the most let down fans in the country. But although I support Marcus Evans with keeping us financially afloat at present, his football knowledge on managers is shocking.

Anyone else starting to fall out of love with football? on 13:36 - Nov 5 with 480 views | TractorBoy | I did in the latter stages of the Keane years and during Jewell's reign - we were a team of washed-up has-beens with no clear identity. Probably didn't help I was going through sixth form and college at the time with other things to worry about. Mick got me back in love with it because he brought the fan base together with the relegation escape and that amazing 14/15 season. The football wasn't always great but it felt to be a part of us. It's all rather died on its arse since 16/17 but League 1 has offered something of a frustrating refresh to many years of the Championship - I'm 27, so that's pretty much all I've known! Still, I'd rather us get the hell out of this league. COYB.
