Last 3 days we've had lovely sunny days in Suffolk so managed to get out, but on the MTB. Just too many leaves, wet patches, gravel for the road bike I reckon.

Managed to shift/dislodge my seat today which meant 10 miles home with a wobbly seat before I sorted it.

Nice. Wind has been the issue here. Oh, and the driving rain. I bought a gravel bike when we were in the States with the intention of selling it when we left, but liked it so much I brought it back. I've stuck mudguards on it with 28mm semi slicks and it makes a great bad weather road bike. So I've got what I need to get out, except the motivation! I do enjoy MTB more through the autumn & winter though. I miss the crisp, clear Suffolk autumns as we just get battered by storms over here.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

All road users should respect each other whether they are motorists or cycling bores.

Oh you forgot the hyphen.

Emphasis on the word 'should'. Audi and Fiat drivers are obviously a superior species with impeccable taste and manners, but I worry about the rest of you.

As for Mazda drivers...

As soon as I read you'd put mudguards on it, I pictured it also having a little basket on the front too.

Does it have a bell!?

Do cyclists have bells on their bikes, if not what's the modern equivalent? I used to have a horn when I was a kid which was probably quite annoying for other people who weren't kids.

Or do you lot rely just shouting at other road users to let them know of your presence?

To be honest, I was just trying to think of a setup line for the wordplay gag.

I always go for

"What's that coming over the hill? Is it a Mazda/ Is it a Mazda?"

Or

"It Mazda bee-eee-ee Perfect"

I have 3 to choose from. Nothing fancy or expensive. A Dawes no suspension MTB, a Claude Butler Critirium road bike and a vintage Peugeot tourer, which has mudguards and treaded tyres so it's good for damp, leaf strewn roads. Plenty enough for a 75yr old.
