Wake up: “they” already know everything about us. Every time you go online, every purchase you make, what you watch, where you go, if you have voice activated stuff, then “they” have even more info on you. I’m not a conspiracy nut either, it’s just fact. “They” don’t need anything from an ID card system, it wouldn’t add anything. It’s like nutters going on about the vaccine being some conspiracy. I just don’t get how you can be worried about a hypothetical ID card system, or others worried about vaccines, when we have already sleep walked into the current data harvesting situation.

I imagine if an ID card was implemented there would be an associated cost to it. I’m sure it would need to be scanned or brandished at a check point of some magnitude as validation or confirmation of accessibility or eligibility. I wouldn’t say it was insignificant. Freedom of movement is restricted by similar types of identification methods ie: Driving Licence and Passport so we can assume it would have some restrictive power to it, after all, the need for an identity card only serves the purpose to authorise or prohibit.

You do realise this is a government who handed millions over to a pest control firm and a ferry company with no boats?

I think you can allay your fears of oppression with the reality of the Tories' general stupidity and incompetence.

It’s not the stupidity of government that concerns me, we’re very used to that. To paraphrase Alice Walker, It’s stupidity of the many who yield power thinking they have none that carries far greater consequence.
