Great bowling by Archer.

Pitch looks like it's getting slower and slower. Stokes looks innocuously pedestrian. Wonder if Archer could get a bit more out of this before the end.

Wow! That’s a great chase by the Windies. Take a bow Kyle Mayers!

That means Mayers is averaging 250 in Test cricket,

Bizarre review. I knew that wasn't out lbw and assumed the review was that they thought he nicked it behind. One left now.

I think England are using those reviews to put uncertainty into the batsman and het him to play with his bat more.

Think I’d be getting a silly point in now and surround the bat. Another wicket tonight would be a real bonus.

The DRS machine is quite slow to get into gear isn’t it.

Considering how the reviews today seem to take about 5 minutes a time to appear on the screen, it just feels like unnecessary time wasted unless we think the umpire got it wrong. Looks likely we will lose overs tonight.

Archer puts one down but it was a difficult one.

As we all knew, Leach showing he is not good enough. Nice chap but county level at best. Does not have the mentality to react when the batsmen are after him.

Bess on the other hand has a hell of a lot to learn, but likes being in the spotlight and has a habit of getting big wickets even when not bowling well.

Broad in for Leach next match please - or even I would rather see Virdi or Parkinson as the second spinner.

Disagree there, we need to persevere with him. Leach has more control than Bess, also Leach hasn't bowled consistently for a long time prior to the Sri Lanka series to generate some consistent rhythm in his bowling. You ask most Somerset fans whose the better bowler and the majority will say Leach. Also, what's the point of flogging Broad and Anderson on these pitches and in these conditions? There's no point.

The top level, which Test cricket is, is not about so much about technical skill but mental.

Leach is no doubt good in county cricket, but that is the point, he turns it on when one man and a dog are watching. He does not have the big game mentality.

Control? Did you not watch today.

Bess is not much better but he has the mentality and in his short career shows he is up for the fight - this was one of Swann's biggest qualities, all be it he undoubtedly had a lot of skill as well.

As s spinner, if you are meek and mild you will get bullied - that is what happens to Leach.

The point of Broad and Anderson is even if they don't take wickets, they will not go for more than 2 or 3 an over. They give control, leaving Archer to bowl pace and Bess to spin.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but the fact you've just written off Leach after a poor day at the office is harsh. Both him and Bess have played 12 tests, Leach has taken 44 wickets at 30.50 a piece, where Bess has taken 31 at 33s. Neither is a world class bowler we can all see that, but they are both doing and have done a decent job for England regardless that Leach was going for over 5 an over today. Lets see what unfolds, Leach took a lot of criticism from what a remember in Sri Lanka and then played a huge part in the second innings of that final test, but he did offer control throughout the series. I'm certainly not discarding him to the scrap heap for one day's bowling. I remember watching Nathan Lyon getting taken to the cleaners at times by sides, but now Australia have got one of the best off spin bowlers in world cricket whose taken 400 test wickets.

I understand the point you are making about economy rates, but Anderson and Broad need to be handled with care not flogged to death, especially in these conditions to maintain longevity. It's now time for others to step up to the plate and provide that bowling support for each of them. Personally, I'd still look to play one of them each test like the selectors have been doing, shows good management. That's my opinion, although I'm not trying to change yours either Ace High1.

I make you right.

I’ve seen a few people suggesting we ought to have gone with 1 spinner, that’s mental in India. Nick Knight was one of them, which should be of no surprise.

I agree with you Chris.

I like seeing Anderson and Broad in tandem, but that’s sentimental and because I know those days are nearly done. What a pair of legends though.

I’d like to see Moeen given a go in India.
